It stings that not only the city of Phoenix but now also the people of Tempe have rejected NHL hockey in the desert. Unfortunately, it looks like the franchise is going to move on to a new location. As an Avs fan I didn't pay much attention to this but it seems that the deal was much less dependant on tax payers's money than some other cases. So sorry for you guys. Yotes would always show up against the Avs, a real kryptonite for our championship team last season. If American sports had a multi-tier league system like Europe, there would be enough space for teams in Tempe, Houston, Quebec, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Portland, Anchorage, St. Johns etc. at the same time. The pain of seeing your team being relocated would be history. But billionaire owners have a problem with it: it guarantees them less money, too many uncertainties when it comes to profit. That's why US billionaires buying soccer clubs in Europe are pushing for the Super League, which is met with backlash from local fans. When it should be the opposite: US fans should advocate for the multi-tier system and defeat them on their home turf.

Native Av's fan but lived in Phoenix for a couple years while in college. This sucks and I feel for you. Such a weird dynamic in Arizona given the wide urban sprawl. There's enough fans to pack three stadiums but nobody seems to want them. I think the Av's will start to slide here in the next 5 years and I'm hoping to see Arizona on the come up in their place.

@@Kaijuus Coyotes struggled in AZ virtually all because of bad arenas, dumb politicians, and whacko locations: Suns arena with thousands of obscured viewing seats and slushy ice; Glendale in the far wild, wild west valley with one clogged route in and out during rush hour via the trans-America trucking freeway of I-10; recently at a small college den on the Arizona State University campus with little parking. The arena should have been built in South Scottsdale 25 years ago where it was originally proposed to take over a sprawling giant dying strip mall. Would have thrived there. Short commute to coach Wayne Gretzky's Paradise Valley mansion. You heard of Wayne, right?
