Thank you so much for posting this, Inna. As an online (and ancient) beginner, it's quite difficult to gauge the correct amount of pressure to place on the strings and it's difficult not to squeeze the neck with the left thumb. Your tips are most helpful. Thank you, again.

Excellent video, Inna- that pressing between the thumb and index finger limits the entire left arm. I will certainly employ these tips. One other thing I noticed for myself is that the tension causes the arm to quickly tire out and I would find myself letting my upper arm rest against the side of my body (in first position) which caused the violin to drop which in turn caused my straight bowing to go crooked. A terrible chain reaction.
