The funny thing is, until the 1920s, women didn't cut their hair short, regardless of their age. After that, young women thought it stylish to have short hair and older women were therefore expected to have long hair. I think that lasted until 1950 or so.

Some people want visual cues as to how old someone is because they find it helpful? I just treat people with respect no matter how old they are. I think one of the reasons why a lot of people think "older" women (whatever that means) should wear shorter hair is that women were supposed to signal that they were now mature and ready to stop focusing on how they look. But, how we look is not about other people. It is about us. It is about looking our best and feeling our best. One reason why I love you, Angie, is that you radiate joy over discovering things that many of us can use to look and feel our best. You are always positive and you give us honest reviews. You look amazing, your hair is just fabulous! It’s fabulous because it’s long. I’m 55 and have long hair, I’m keeping it long. It’s a struggle to style it as it thins out but I wear a sharks tooth headband which I find lifts my hair and keeps it in place. Dark, light, experiment! As you say we are of an age to not care what others think. Kind and good people will always only say nice things!

Thank you Angie for your wonderful words about the early '60s and having long colored hair! Sometimes people will tell me You should go ahead and go gray or you should go ahead and cut your hair now that you're 63 and I say no! I like my hair like this. Thank you for your confirmation as I respect your words and all of your videos Thank you so much and keep them coming!❤

There's absolutely no reason to cut your hair & stop coloring just because you're over 60! Keep doing what makes you happy! 💜

You do you Angie! Personally I think it’s beautiful. I’m 67 soon to be 68 and decided years ago I don’t care what others think as long as I’m happy with my hair, makeup, clothes, etc!

My Friday is not complete without an Angie video 😘 I tried the Oribe, don’t know if I got a bad batch but didn’t care for the smell at all☹️ Going to continue using my Oleplex, as it has the same ingredients as Oribe. Lol… and a couple little hacks I found with my Omni Lux mask… instead of buying the neck piece, just use the mask for the neck and chest… very pliable and gets the whole neck…then I also put the mask on my head!!!! Been doing this for about 8 months and seeing results. And saving 💲💲💲 Love my Dyson too 🩵 Didn’t mean to write a book but maybe this will also help someone else too 🎉

You look gorgeous and you definitely don’t look like you are 60 Angie. You do you! 💕 I’m 58 (almost) and I have longer blonde hair and love it…short hair looks horrible on me. Thanks for all you do! ❤

@@AngieHotandFlashy yes knowing the chemical ingredients is so helpful! I recently dealt with a lot of hair loss despite being on HRT and it's coming back like gangbusters since I started back on B vitamins, Rx minoxidil, etc after watching your videos. You look so stunning, that blonde really makes you GLOW! I have the same hair color and have been doing similar highlights for years since making it to Texas from the east coast- a huge benefit being that the silver that is coming in gets camouflaged by the light ashy blonde highlights. May I ask if you do partial or full highlights? Love the dark showing through, and while I use many of the products you discussed, will be adding the light brown crayon, especially to add lowlights as needed! GENIUS!!
@AngieHotandFlashy4 ай бұрын
I do full highlights about once a year and partials in between!

I've ordered Oribe and appreciate your comments about don't comb it until after leave in products. Agree 💯 let's wear our hair as we like. Important to care for our hair.

I believe your hair style and color is a personal choice not for any one’s opinion. I’ve had my hair long, short, flat ironed and nearly every color of the rainbow. I now wear it long, curly, and gray. I like it and honestly that’s all that matters! Your hair looks so shiny and healthy and great on you!

When Covid happened and we were shut down, I didn't bother to even try to get my hair cut and colored. As it happened I was able to see the gray I was growing at my temples and I still have yet to have it seriously cut. My hair is almost reaching my waist, and I am 75 years old now. I stopped highlighting it because I wanted to see the gray and I have found that it replaces the look of blonde that I used to have to pay for. My husband and I don't get out much so there is no need for me to fuss with my hair but not doing so has strengthened it, thus it is for the first time in my life healthy. Most of the time I keep it pulled back but for nice occasions I will let it hang long but styled. I don't care what others think of it, but I think my long hair is beautiful and with my laid back lifestyle it is just so easy. Oh, and I have been using Minoxidil for 6 years now with great results.

I'm 60 and started growing my hair longer last year after decades of shoulder-length hair. I now love my longer hair and wish I had never cut it in my 40s and 50s! I looked older then that I do now. Thanks for the advice on the hair care routine!

Your hair looks gorgeous , Angie. Thank- you for encouraging us to do what makes us feel beautiful and happy. I’m letting my hair go white; I’m 55 and I love it. I’m noticing that gray hair tends to lose shine so I’m going to try the 2 leave-in serums you suggested.

Generally combing your hair while wet is not recommended because the hair is very fragile then - the pulling causes it to stretch and even tear. Hair is the strongest when dry. I usually detangle my hair a little with my fingers while it's wet and that's all.

Hi Angie. I’m also 61 and have long hair….you always look classy and natural . I have never understood why we can’t have long hair after 60. I totally agree with everything you say… our generation of women are strong women who always stood up for what they believed in and were the trailblazers for women’s lib, so yes we have deserved the right of passage to do what ever we wish and other peoples should mind their own council…I’m not a fan of ageism..I like to think we are all equal and relevant…wow, this is so interesting with the ingredients. Have you tried Davinas shampoos and conditioners. I buy mine from hairdressers. Made on a farm in Italy by an Italian family… oh wow, the Love heat protector is the same brand I use by the Italian family by Davina. I love the smell and use their shampoo, Conditioner and oil... Cowlicks are my bane. Grrr!🤬..I have a whopper on my left temple which exposes my menopausal male pattern bald bits…(btw, I absolutely love my book The New Menopause. ) I air dry and scrunch and sometimes use the Redkin bed head curl..well this was a wonderful video as always. Youre7amazing Angie…sending you sunshine from Oz xxx🌞🦘🌏

Oh joy, another day, another opportunity for everyone to share their utterly fascinating and completely unsolicited opinions. I mean, who doesn't love being bombarded with unwanted advice and critiques from people who probably can't even manage their own lives? It's not like I have better things to do than listen to their ramblings and pretend to care. Can't we all just keep our thoughts to ourselves for once? But no, let's just keep on sharing those brilliant insights and unsolicited suggestions🙈🙄 You truly look stunning! Don't waste a moment worrying about what others say or think. Their opinions are irrelevant and can't diminish your beauty and worth. You shine bright, and that's all that matters!😌❤️

You look absolutely stunning Angie. No matter what your age you are a beautiful woman. Why people feel they have to judge people who are on KZbin beats me. I'm just a few years younger than you and I have had long hair most of my life, and it's been Nutrisse Fiery Red for more than 15 years and I LOVE IT! I heatless curl it and I've been told that my hair is my crowning glory but I've had negative comments too. My hair is part of my identity and I don't feel ready to chop it off to satisfy the type of person who thinks it's ok to try to bring me down 🙂 You do you Angie xx

I remember when I had my son 30 years ago and I was asked if I was going to cut my long hair now. Moms apparently weren't supposed to have long hair because it was dangerous for the baby? Um, okay, but no, I'm not cutting it. Now that I'm in my early 60s, I'm feeling that same pressure as I'm going white. I am tired of coloring, but I will not cut it. When I'm done, I will have long white hair. I don't care about the hair length/age rules.

Some older women with short hair look younger,some- older.I am 77, long blond hair below my shoulders . I am in the category , that if I go short, I look older. Of course, it’s a lot of work with long hair. But, I get very often compliments from strangers, and also my husband likes the length of my hair ,so it is worth the effort. Some advice: never listen to women’s comments about the length or color of hair in older age, 95% they are fake and jealous. Your hair is your glory…..😊
