I use to work with a guy I called Bull tits because he was useless. One time I told him to grab me a rake and he brought back a shovel. Our boss put him on a demo job alone to just take out the Sheetrock I went to that job a few days later to take over and he was tearing out one piece at a time and taking it out to the dumpster outside. Useless

3liters of engine capacity in a single cylinder is massive, but no comparsion to the old stationary single cylinder monsters. Probably the biggest of them has 110x more capacity than the 3 liter bike: The "De La Vergne" engine is a single cylinder engine built in 1903. It is rated 125 HP and 4100 ft-lbs. of torque (at 160 RPM!), has 26" bore and 38" stroke. That equals 20,175 cubic inches or 330 liters! Btw: the biggest single cylinder engine I've witnessed in real life is the 10.3 liter engine that's used in the biggest version of the "Lanz Bulldog" tractor. Probably the biggest single cylinder that's used in a vehicle.

New challenge: build a motorcycle with a 10l Lanz Single-Cylinder Engine. And Second Challenge: Make this beast road-legal in Germany! There might be a slight problem with halting on Traffic lights when your bike is jumping each power stroke about 1m in height.
@gchampi22 ай бұрын
While that's big for internal combustion, for REALLY BIG, you need external combustion & steam. Try a bore of 100 inches (2.54m) with a stroke of 132 inches (3.35m). Okay, not practical in a bike (or any mobile structure really). Housed at the London Museum of Water & Steam, it's currently a non-runner, but it's sister engine is still running, and with a 90" (2.28m) cylinder (same stroke), is the largest single cylinder running engine in the world...

"The (radial airplane engine) cylendar was not considered to be suitable for use in a motorcycle because of the weight of the piston." I think you''d better talk with Alan Millyard who built a motorcycle engine with, not one, but TWO cylinders, also from an old radial airplane engine. His works beautifully. So I'm not sure what you were basing that statement on.
