Oh that's an amazing suggestion! From what I know of the prices the toast and morphine are great upsells with that trade! Only downside I can see is that the lockpicks don't stack so you'd want a good pockets upgrade fairly early to go with it :D

Couple of fun combat things I picked up: - You can loot muggers twice if you take their things and then kill them anyway - Lockpicks with low durability are an instakill when they break inside someone

To be honest, on the first day, game just throws food at you. Game gives you: 3 smoked meats (the steppe folks on the railroad), rusks and milk (Notkin's children), fish and rusks (Lara). This is what you are guaranteed to receive on the first day. And that's not even considering what you can find in an abandoned house (mission with bandits) and exchange with the townspeople. You don't need to buy food. GENERALLY. Not on any day. Just learn who is exchanging what for what and go to the grocery only for nuts and lemons. Don't waste your money on food, you will need SOOOOO much money to get ready for the fourth day. It's the most expensive day in terms of money. After that you'll start receiving an award from the fund and you may not worry about the money anymore.

I know I'm late, but generally, my strategy is the exact opposite: Buy as much food as humanly possible in day 1 & day 2, and deposite them at Lara or Vlad. Because food is cheap back then, afterwards it will be expensive. Also collected as much water as humanly possible in those days and store them in the same place. It helped me a lot in days 9 - 12.

It is possible to avoid negative effects of consumable by having your meters maxed out. for example, at maximum exhaustion there are no side effect to drinking morphine or Medrel tincture at maximum hunger you can consume coffee or Yas tinctures with no additional hunger. This may seem counter intuitive but at full health recommend taking coffee or rotten food before you sleep since you should be able recover from the negative effects of both by the time you wake up

A personal recommendation: Lemons are worth trading for. Sometimes even buying, as it literally buys you time. They reduce exhaustion without having to spend time sleeping, time you could otherwise be spending completing critical quests or gathering herbs.

I completely agree. And they only take one soap to trade for, which is pretty simple to acquire. Liver-based painkillers also increase exhaustion recovery while sleeping, so if you have the spare lying around...

@@wriglensteine6915 By the way, could you elaborate a little on the house of the dead sidequest? I assume it's the same as what's normally referred to, "House of Death", but doesn't Khan leave the Polyhedron to talk to Notkin in the Broken Heart, which starts this quest in the first place? Does one have to previously not ask the Dogheads standing guard at the Polyhedron about Khan?

@@AdroSlice So I think this may be incorrect. It turns out some of the bound you can avoid meeting which gives the impression they're safe when they aren't, because the game occasionally guarantees their safety for story reasons. I think that is what happens here, so doing the quest has no impact on Khan's safety.

@@wriglensteine6915 slightly incorrect. If you don't do the quest Khan will go back to the polyhedron and not go to the nutshell which can get infected. Thats whats meant by keeping him safe.

In fights, go for knives, and a powerstab and then a quick slice will kill any bandit in the game. Also a Stealth mode stab can hit and even kill an enemy even if they see you and even if you don't hit the back. Also the best way to break the Fund reward system is to journey to Shekhen Villiage each night after day 2 gathering herbs along the way, raiding the three patches of herbs in there, then coming back, brewing tinctures, and then using the tinctures and bought antibiotics to treat the people in the hospital, and cut the dead ones in there for organs at no rep cost. Also the revolver is kinda useful, low as hell priority useful. It's good for weakening foes in a group at range, finishing off fleeing bandits, and saving your knife's condition so it can be easier for a town father to repair.

Excellent comment. I'm sure people will find handy. Must admit I do find the revolver to be personal preference given all the components you need to keep in mind to keep it running, as it were.

@@wriglensteine6915 It's more of an emergency, "Holy Fucking Shit, Shit shit shiiiiitttt!!!" weapon. I keep it well maintained and loaded for the occaisions I'm fighting a clowncar's worth of knife fucks. Point the gun at the group and Empty the cylinder, then swap to knife and block while backpedaling into powerstab, timing it so the fool impales himself by rushing into your stab's point.

Here's a Tip now I think about it for looting infected houses. Keep the lantern out and lit, plague clouds will avoid it and dissapate in front of it. That said when looting with it out be as fast as possible because Artemy has to set the lantern down to loot and the bloody things come back! Remember, the Plague fears and hates fire, use the lantern as your ward!

True. I tend not to use the lantern for houses much, mostly due to laziness. I do use it in the hospital on the day you wait for an hour. Makes it super easy.

You'll know you're in the right spot when the plague clouds that would normally chase you instead go upstairs. Something about that spot that makes the clouds think you're on the second floor lol

I could have kept BOTH Vlad's alive?! I read a guide that said to go to old Vlad, then young, then old again to make older Vlad go to the termitary. He said he would send people after him but Vlad still goes to the termitary and he ends up dead by the end of the schism part. So if I do it this way, Vlad won't have to go at all?

Absolutely! It banishes static plague clouds and can halt some of the ones that hunt you.

It's your best friend when exploring infected houses as it fucks with plague cloud pathfinding. They hate and fear the light. Some clouds wait in rooms to ambush you, but when they encounter the light, wait a bit and they'll vanish for a while. Wait until the sounds of their movement completely stop.

Great vid thougg the audio is a bit hard to understand. Im on my second run, day 3, trying to stock up on water, food and schmowders. I ran out of water after making a shit ton of tinctures though. Also, stupidly bartered away all my matches bc i didnt know about the plague cloud protection :(

Thanks. I intend to respond it with fixed audio at some point. Though I don't have the original file so I suppose I mean I will remake it. Don't worry too much about matches or the small things, if you keep the Fund level high and trade for pump parts the game is surprisingly forgiving.
