This the first episode of the brand new Extraordinary Lives: Minutes With Podcast.
In this episode we talked to Craig Harrison, who was a highly-trained British Army sniper, who’s best-known for once holding the world record for the longest kill. Craig was used to taking out Taliban machine gunners but his exceptional career took its toll, pushing him to the very brink.
Warning: this episode contains some graphic descriptions and discussion of suicidal feelings.
Extraordinary Lives is a podcast from the team behind LADbible’s Minutes With.
We speak to remarkable people who each have a unique story to tell - spies, terrorists, hackers, gangsters, killers, people with particular conditions, and those who’ve lived unreal experiences. These are the stories that resonated the most with LADbible’s audience when they were originally told on Minutes With.
In this podcast, LADbible’s Ben Powell-Jones sits down with those individuals for a more in-depth conversation, revealing untold tales for the first time.

PTSD is nothing to sneeze at, Craig is an absolute living Legend for battling through all of his demons (including fighting suicide and depressing) in and out of the battle field. The simple fact that the military dispatched him when they found out he had PTSD is actually heartbreaking, there is no respect given to veterans once they leave. Militaries everywhere need to give more support to those in serious need, epically when it comes to soldiers risking there lives 24/7; and taking accountability to actually fixing mental health rather then dispatching people and making it worse smh. Thank you for your service Craig!

When you get the likes of Craig Harrison and Tyson Fury talking about their mental health and the lows they’ve been through it helps other men talk about what they’re going through without the stigma and shame that many of us feel, such an accomplished and capable man but you can literally see his heart breaking at some of the things he’s been through, it’s good to see he’s finding some happiness on this journey now though

Thank u so much for having him back on and for doing this video. His story and his emotions and the fact that he can show it's ok to get emotional because of what he's gone through, is indescribable. I don't know the words to express my gratitude and my aw for him and his wife for sticking by him and for getting him to this point in his life. I've been a caregiver for many disabled and dying veterans and the shit some of them have gone through for us and our countries is nightmare fuel. I truthfully don't know what to say or how to say it, but thank u. I wish the best for u and ur family.

Apart from his incredible stories of his time in the military, and everything he's been through and dealt with himself, it's incredible for him to come on something like this and say 'if you're struggling and don't have anyone to talk to, talk to me.' By doing that he's potentially saving lives in just as real a way as he did by taking out those gunners in Afghanistan and I have huge respect for what he's doing helping people like that.

My old man was in 2 para in the late 60's/early 70's, served in Rhodesia (before it became Zimbabwe) and then northern Ireland. He didn't speak much about what he saw but he always had serious anger issues which could of been down to that but the support ex service personnel get is disgusting. They put your life on the line to fight their battles and then forget about you after the worse that can happen, happens.

Craig and Tanya are both amazing people, Craig has opened my eyes to mental health, i dont suffer myself so iv always been a bit nieve towards it... iv watched his ladbible video multiple times and it always brings a tear to my eye.. I would love to one day meet him just to shake his hand and tell him how incredible he is and how incredible the work he does for others is.. he should be proud of all his achievements.. LEGEND

Respect for the sniper and the fighter, but nothing comes close to the honour for this man for his personal fight with PTSD. Stay strong mate, never give up.

It's disgusting how the British Army just f**k you off. 23 years, Wow! This shot was all over the U.K press when it happened. I would not like any of my children joining the armed forces. Stay strong and all the best.👊👊👊

This has always been my one gripe with the military, that you give them so much of yourself, your mind, your body and your soul, go to the worst places on earth to keep people safe, and as soon as you break, they throw you out without a second thought because you are no use to them anymore. The fact that it took a charity to be put together (help for heroes) by civilians and survivors is disgusting. It shouldn't need to be a charity

😂😂😂😂😂😂 they absolutely smashed the Taliban in almost every contact. All the Taliban had to do was wait until the West lost interest in the region and they could easily come back. Not exactly a military capitulation by the British...

I don't understand where he says there's no help for PTSD, you get 5 sessions etc. I work as a therapist for the NHS and we treat PTSD. There's no "5 sessions" and there's clear NICE guidelines and evidence based interventions for treating trauma, and that's just as a primary care service. There's secondary care mental health services which provide psychological interventions also and I have seen cases were patients have had 30 1-1 sessions with a psychologist. Of course I'm not suggesting this man is lying or something but what he's saying is totally inaccurate so, there's a disconnect somewhere. Now the waiting lists and the number of practitioners available is a whole other story, that is and has been a problem for the last 20 years I've worked in mental health services, it's always been woefully underfunded. The services and treatments do exist though. To add also, the integration between military services and mental health services could be significantly improved. The support for soldiers by the military is very poor and definitely needs improvement.
