In this episode of The Debrief, former 22 SAS Trooper Big Phil Campion speaks to Craig Harrison.
Craig Harrison is a former Corporal Of Horse in the Household Cavalry, and during his career as a sniper, achieved the world's longest confirmed kill in Afghanistan in 2009. Holding this record for 8 years came with its own challenges, resulting in death threats, being personally hunted by the Taliban, and left Craig fearing for his family's safety in the UK.
Now the founder of the Maverick Survival School, Craig combines valuable survival skills and mental health support, with himself continuing to be on a rehabilitation journey for the severe PTSD caused by his service, and what happened after he made that record-breaking shot.

The best podcast I’ve heard in a long time definitely going to check out Craig’s charity Being an orphan I also thought a bit sad for Craig but so happy that he has a great family now . His charity is not like other who are greedy for networking Craig really does want to do it for the pure good it can do to others , Craig also has the best attitude to learning . You learn from others and you’re self this is the type off mindsets we need. And anyone who try’s to go into Craig’s personal space should deserve to be smashed in then taken on SAS who dares wins and try to survive 😂😂😂😂😂 , what a great man along with Phil it’s great to see them both smiling . All the best I also suffer from Cptsd obviously not from army It’s great to talk about it and yes fearing everyone will put you aside when you get mental health it’s hard I was put on meds because no one understood me and I realised I have to just be alone and sort it myself , definitely going to look that course up Great podcast !

I Saw Mr Harrison in another youtube video where he was describing his PTS. You're absolutely correct, the way this country treats it's Veterans is nothing short of disgraceful. I hope he can repair his relationships with his family and wish him all the best in the world.

I’ve followed Craig and his story for a long time, since his first interviews started popping up. Each time I see a new one, I am even more astonished at this man’s character and resilience. He’s a true warrior. The type of guy any man would love to have as a mate. The way he’s been treated by so many people in his life he should’ve been able to trust, and the military/government, is an absolute disgrace. I wish Craig the absolute best. Truly inspiring individual with a heart of gold. Top, top fella, and I don’t think he realises it.

Wow. Got the old tingles too watching this. Another great interview and guest. Served 30yrs in UK military myself, mostly Puma and Chinook as your taxi to exotic locations Phil. Good luck to Craig. After 14 years, my night terrors seem to be subsiding. I used to keep jumping out of bed thinking something had to be done. Dunno what the something was. Done Bosnia and Middle East stuff. Think we all must be going through something. Its surprising how much influence your mother has. My mum always said eat your sandwich over the sink. I'm 62 now and eat my sandwich over the sink.

I feel your pain mate, I was based out in NOWZAD about 6 hours north of Camp Bastion, I worked for Estonian's and US Marines. The Estonian Company had just changed over whilst I was mid tour and I was an Alpha MFC and the Estonian OC wanted to post me into an OP because the Taliban were getting up to our FOB on a night and planting IED's everywhere. So we left the FOB to a location I'd previously identified and we had only been out about 20 mins and had to go through a high sided alleyway. As the lead Estonian went to go round the corner he stepped on an IED and lost his left leg, the Estonians were running round screaming and trying to help this young lad, I was shouting at them to check for secondary devices but they just stopped speaking English and walked all over the area to my front. Once he had been evacuated there were 2 more young lads in front of me, I told them to clear a path back to me and I would clear back to the road, however the rear man spotted the lads kit who had been blown up and walked to it, the next thing I remember was being blasted backwards, when I regained myself I got up to find he had lost his right leg. Until that patrol I felt like I was untouchable, like superman but when we got them both sorted and returned to the FOB, I just broke down in tears, I blamed myself for not getting a grip of them all and also for planning the route to the OP and it haunted me for years and took 4 lots of treatment from the headshrinkers before I slowly got my life back together.
