60 years ago I had 65 acres of farm land and about 20 acres of woodland. My tractor was an international W4. Almost exactly the same as yours. That tractor farmed all of that land and never let me down . Brings me back to my young years. Thank you for you great vidios.

What a journey you’ve been on! And, to share this with your dad is something you’ll cherish your entire life. You both are clearly gifted in carpentry. And, your further blessed with the ability to skillfully tell a story via video. This has been a lot of fun to watch. This past weekend, I binge watched all the way to episode 10.1. What a journey you have been on. Thanks for bringing me along.

Things have a way of coming to you in time. I was just talking with my dad about working the brakes the way you did to keep the tractor moving. Up until that time I had only used the brakes to help steer the tractor. Someone has taught you well. Good job.

Thanks for sharing your journey through the logging & building processes. Your videos are really enjoyable. You mentioned avoiding the log digging into the ground. I saw something called a go-devil, which was a miniature version of the sled you pulled in this vid. It was used just to keep the front end of the log off the ground and free of obstructions. Thanks again!

I often wonder for many of your videos i watched if a larger sized skidsteer would be more efficient for your log home mission. Getting the one with tires and getting the cat track kit from Grouser for tougher surfaces. You would have the pulling power for your jobs and an added bonus of the bucket or forks when needed. I have seen this set up used many times by small logging companies close to our cabin in northern Minnesota. Thanks again for another great video.
@philipunderwood4777 жыл бұрын
get some rear tire chains for that old girl. You'll be much safer and also amazed by the increased productivity. If your budget is tight, I've even seen a guy repurpose old semi-truck chains for his old farm tractor (about 1.5 truck chains make 1 tractor tire chain). You might be able to pick these up at a tire shop or repair shop for pennies on the dollar vs new tractor chains. Good luck, be safe and keep up the good work!

Nice video! That seems like a lot of work. I know it's worth it, so I'll suggest a couple miles of rope be made into a drag line back there. It'll save wear and tear on the tractor and you. Good luck! :)
@regsparkes65077 жыл бұрын
I can't help but think that you have GOT to get a set of chains for that tractor. You seem to be loosing so much traction in the wet woods etc. These are very enjoyable video's,..Thank You.
@flgardener11557 жыл бұрын
Do you ever use your giant snatch block to gain a mechanical advantage? The way you used the block allowed only a change of direction and no mechanical advantage. Some times I make complex pulley systems that give me 45:1 mechanical advantage. I start with a 5:1 block and tackle and then add on 2 Z-rigs (3:1 each). Complex pulley systems multiply the factors so 5*3*3 = 45. The disadvantage is that you have to move your tractor 45 feet for the load to move 1 foot so you need lots of rope/cable. But you can pull up some massive stumps with a tractor and good mechanical advantage setup. I was amazed that your tractor didn't have a differential lock. That was a very cool trick to overcome that. I hope I can remember to try that on my tractor. Also gratz on silver. Your videos are awesome. The effort you put into them really shows and is clearly reflected in your number of subscribers.

Well done with all those obstacles Brother! Would be nice to have chains on that tractor too I'll bet but the pulley and alternating brake combination worked great. Great work, like always! One suggestion, get a set of tire chains for the rears on your tractor, that will make it almost unstoppable. We run tire chains on our skid steer and our tractor that we use to winter feed, its almost as good as 4 wheel drive!

Go to farm auctions. At least in my area, they are plentiful at a reasonable price.
@BenKibler7 жыл бұрын
Agreed, chains are even better than 4WD, especially in hard-pack snow or ice. Coupled with your (already) skillful use of individual brakes, you'll be unstoppable. I leave mine installed year-round on the woods tractor: they help just almost as much with mud and roots as they do in the snow.
