Trump delays tariffs on Mexico after they agree to send 10,000 soldiers to border

Mexico's president has said she will send 10,000 soldiers to the US border in a deal with Donald Trump to "pause" the 25% tariff.
Claudia Sheinbaum said she had a "good conversation" with President Trump, where the two discussed a "range of issues".

The glaring flaw in their thinking is that avocados or tomatoes can't be purchased from other nations. It's called competition. If your Mexico product os more expensive we will be Peruvian, Chilean, Argentinian, Costa Rican, Panamanian, Ecuadoria, Brazilian, etc, etc, products. We already but from these countries we would just increases orders from them. 1% increase in cost from that countries is better than 25% increase in Mexico. It's basic supply and demand.

The glaring flaw in your thinking is not realizing that half the countries in your list are farther away from us that the UK and transportation costs would inflate prices well beyond that 25%. The reason we import from Mexico in the first place is not charity. Their prices are simply more competitive and in many instances the quality is better. The tariffs would have been passed on to the consumer in either case.

Mexico has been asking the United States for decades to take action to prevent the smuggling of weapons into Mexico. The arms companies in the United States is known, which have never let anything like this happen. It is the first time that the United States government commits to doing something, I think it is a good agreement, it is a problem of common interest. The problem is resolved between the two countries. More actions have to be done in the part, referring to money laundering and movement of economic resources between the two countries to close the full cycle.

In 2024 the USBP arrested 564 characters from the US Terrorist Watch List. Surprisingly, 484 of those were at the Canadian border. Why? Because Canada has a "No Visa Required" policy for too many countries which made it easy for these undesirables to slip in. These tariffs are about policy changes Canada needs to make, but can't because they don't have a functioning gov't to make it happen. Too bad they have as Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who was rejected as PM by party vote and apparently elected because of his appearance and his last name, since he was never qualified to lead a nation. Aside from that, most Americans really like Canada and Canadians. It does not mean however, that they are unaware of or don't care about Canada's lack of contributions to it's own defense which has taken a back seat to Trudeau's hyper focus on being a Don Quixote (In reference to what he's actually accomplished) for climate change.
