I made a save, and then picked the breakup option with him just to see what he would say. Haven't reloaded a save so quickly, not even when save acumming after a Nat 1 roll. XD Made sure to give kisses as soon as the save loaded back up.

oh god, the Astarion one is gutting. He worries so much that he's too screwed up to love, that his trauma is more trouble than he's worth, and breaking up with him like this ("I don't want to be roped into your trauma") really is just confirming his worst fears. Everyone is hurt, obviously, but I think this would stick with him for a hell of a lot longer. Tav is the first person he opened up to ever and they told him he's too traumatized for them.... I wouldn't be surprised if he never tries to be with anyone again 😢

Agreed :( though interestingly after you defeat Cazador, spawnstar will make comments about how it's okay if you do break up or if your feelings for him change. Obviously he doesn't want it, but it's like he's quietly, behind the scenes, realized that the world doesn't begin and end with Tav, and that he'll move on and be okay if it happens. The best way to see it imo is if you ask him about being with Halsin after you've dealt with Caz, you get a dialogue option to reassure him that your feelings for him won't change, and he just kinda pauses a moment, smiles, and says, "you know, I think it'd be okay, even if they did" or something to that effect.

I’m currently in a durge run and romancing Lae’zel. I had meant to romance Astarion, but when Lae’zel came to me in the night for a courtship battle (lol) and I told her no, she looked so heartbroken. But she just says “say the word and I’ll go.” I reloaded so fast! Lae’zel is so sweet and vulnerable deep down, she’s always unflinchingly honest, and she respects your decisions. I have to love her for that, even if she scares me sometimes 😂

Shadowheart being the only one who is cut and dry about it makes sense. Compared to everyone else; SH had to muster up alot of faith and courage to open up to you. To her, you loving and accepting her is a big deal to her and wouldnt have let just anyone get that close. So to her, you just cutting those ties with no thought is almost like betraying her and showing her that her efforts didnt mean anything. The hurt and anger in what she tells you is sad. I couldnt ever have the heart to do that to her so hats off for showing that painful decision.

​@@nathanfivecoate5848it's not really about that, Mizora forces him to make an impossible choice, if he breaks the pact she won't tell Wyll where his father is or protect him, and she will constantly try to kill the duke on the submarine. the thing that bothers me is that choosing to break the pact comes with such huge negative effect on his romance path EVEN if you save his dad and spite Mizora. I'm just speaking from my experience because i played through both, and I feel like choosing to keep the pact standing is the better option especially when you are romancing him (• ◡•)

Thank you for your sacrifice xD I actually got Wyll's one completely by accident once. Basically I was playing a lawful good Paladin who somehow was determined to romance Astarion, I guess he's a sucker for enemies to lovers, lol. Anyways, something blossomed with Karlach as well, but he was always "let's just see how things go" with her so breaking up with her was a little more neutral than this version, he never lied to her or anything he was just, "let's keep things casual" and she was okay with it. Obviously she was sad when things ended, but she wasn't surprised she was just "okay cool give me some space". But then AGES later, Wyll, with no prior significant conversations and absolutely no flirting, starts doing his mating dance for me. In spite of being Oath of Devotion my Tav actually didn't get along very well with Wyll at all, he sees him as a hypocrite. Wyll always wants to save people and do the right thing but only if he deems someone worth saving, you know? He's very black and white, you're either a good person in need of protection or you're someone to kill, and it's a dangerous mindset that often leads to him being wrong or even cruel to the other companions. He's quick to ask Astarion not to joke about biting them, for instance, but will immediately start teasing Astarion about killing him or Astarion's enslavement. It pisses Tav off, especially since he's dating Astarion. So yeah, Wyll invites him to dance, is pretty pushy about it, and initiates a kiss when Tav doesn't. The next morning Astarion's all 👀so I guess this is it for us, huh? And Tav basically says lol no and goes to dump Wyll, and Wyll gave the full on "I saw our future together" speech which... actually pissed Tav off. I'm mad there's no dialogue option to call him out on being a presumptuous prick. Like I'm literally dating someone else, I didn't flirt with you or kiss you, I agreed to dance with you when you asked me four freaking times and didn't punch you when you kissed me, that doesn't mean we're engaged you hypocritical cockwomble.

@@nathanfivecoate5848I know there’s a unique Durge break up option for Astarion, but it can only trigger if you’ve defeated Cazador but have not yet faced Orin. Basically, you can tell him that you’re terrified you’re going to kill him someday, in which he will reiterate that he doesn’t care about that, he’s not afraid of you, and that he will not give up until he has cured you. Not sure if you can still force the break up after that, but I know if you call him sweet, he will tell you that he’s not going anywhere. It’s actually the most heartwarming of the attempted break ups. I’m not sure if the others have something similar, but I know Gale doesn’t as he just accepts the break up with no argument before going off to cry 😢
