They are not breaking any wage structure but have likely already offered string terms for his first pro contract which is due in 18 months. He is on an academy deal for now.

@@Do27gg the actual % of academy players that end up with full top flight career with a top club is 2! I never said we didn’t help anyone…we’ve made millions from 80%’s. The reality, and if your a post code Red is from 30 yrs. Fowler, Owen, Carra, Gerrard and TTA have reached the pinnacle. When the 3 non English rule was in effect, 8-11 were English, 4 were scouse… I hope the guy is the next Messi! We’ve had about 6 of them…still waiting for one to blossom.

Look, it's not rocket science. Liverpool find the best talent and then work with it. _At some point though, when push comes to shove,_ you have to make a decision as to whether a player really does have first team potential or whether they're just occupying a slot that could be better utilised by a different player of greater potential. The bottom line is the success of the men's first team. Nothing more, nothing less. For reasons of glory, for reasons of revenue.

Elliott is underrated outside of liverpool. The England selections tells us that. He's unbelievable and will be one of the best in Europe in the next few years. He's only turned 21!
