I just started watching. As soon as I saw your hospital robe I knew you were in MSK’s breast center (of course, maybe they use the same robes in other hospitals). I’m in Brooklyn, too, and had my breast cancer treated there. Still go there yearly for my mammogram and ultrasound. My surgeon was Dr. Alexandra Heerdt; my oncologist was Dr. Diana Lake. Mine, too, was triple positive and high-grade. That was 25 years ago and I’ve been fine so far. I’m so sorry you had cancer, and that it stopped you from having another child. And what you said about radiation and kids resonated so much with me. I remember hearing babies crying while I waited in the little room, awaiting radiation, and crying because of the babies and kids there (didn’t see them). I wish you everything good, sister Brooklynite. No more cancer and great fulfillment in your life with your handsome son and husband. Your photos are very moving and quite beautiful.

Thanks for sharing. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. It’s something that is always in the back of your mind. You are one brave woman. I had cancer at 23 and was afraid I would never be able to have children, but I was able to have children after all. May you have great success with your book. Best wishes for continued good health!

Thank you so much for sharing your story Anna. This came to me at the perfect time, it's a sign. This past December I developed swelling above my collarbone with severe pain in my shoulder. My gp sent me for an ultrasound thinking it was rotator cuff injury. Tests revealed no sign of rotator cuff injury or tears. Since then my left breast feels like it's on fire, very heavy and painful. I found a pea sized lump in my right breast . I found out that shoulder pain has a connection. I'm not being heard by my gp and I'm not getting the proper testing. I've been to the ER but haven't had a chance to stay to figure things out cause our ER is overly busy whenever I go. I also have dense breast's so I could potentially have had breast cancer and never knew because my previous mammogram didn't pick it up. Now since seeing this video, I'm pushing myself to go back to the ER soon to figure things out. I hope you're doing well. All the best to you.🙏🏻🤗❤️

Some experts are starting to recommend breast MRIs as well as 3D mammograms for women with dense breasts, beause this combo detects more cancers in dense breasts. Don't wait, be pro-active for yourself.

@@annarathkopf3068Hi Anna. I was finally seen in the ER a few weeks ago. After examination and a chest x ray I was sent for a mammogram. To my surprise I also had a ultrasound, a biopsy and 2 mammograms all in one day. The pathology report came back stating fibroepithelial lesions, with Atypical lobular hyperplasia. I'm booked for surgery consultation soon. Feeling thankful, but still trying to figure out what's causing the swelling above my collarbone with severe shoulder pain, constant fatigue, and breathlessness that's been constant for a year now. I'll continue to keep you posted. Thanks for the support. Hope you're doing well 🤗🙏🏻

I think you should discuss in the book what was happening in your life just before and at the time you discovered the lump. People have various issues and they may or may not be a part of the problem.
