Yes, when you align your body properly and relax your neck and shoulders, you can too! Just takes time and practice. Relaxing is key. Thank you for your support and hope to see you on the Community platform! Best, Coach Mandy

Excellent demo and description Im an ex squad from many years ago ,breastroke was my specialist stroke and i got down to 0:34 for my 50m and around 1:16 for my 100m That was 40 years ago and now in my mid 50's im back in the pool training again as im getting into doing masters and triathlons Ive been really focusing on my breastroke technique kick and glide ,im getting close to 0:40 for my 50m but just cant seem to get any quicker I feel like my technique is very similar to yours when im doing my slower training Ive been doing varied training with longer slower swims where i can comfortably swim 1km breastroke in 20 mins and i also break it up with some faster speed work 100m intervals at around 1:45-1:50 pace During races im down to 40 seconds and 1:33 for the 50/100 I would love to get down to 38 and under 1:25 again Physically im pretty fit as i run alot aswell as swim Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated Sorry for the long winded backgroud and question🙂

Hi @Bluesman, That is awesome you are training for long distance breaststroke! Yes, breaking up your distance with some speed work is definitely a go to. I would also advise during your distance pace to prioritize breath control by relaxing your breathing. This will help you stay as efficient as possible as well as you being able to control and up your breathing tempo during your speed intervals. Lastly, keeping your neck and shoulders as relaxed as possible will keep your movements more fluid and rhythmic. Those two key points are critical for long distance breaststroke and will make you feel more in control of your pacing and movement. Keep me posted! Best - Coach M 🏊

Your demonstrations and instructions are great, especially the slow motion portion. But, I have one question. I always thought that the kick came after the dive, and you were streamlined. You demonstrated a simultaneous kick and dive to streamline. Am I wrong?

Luca Gian yes, short axis strokes have a different feel but keep practicing one step at a time and it will start to few more natural. 🙌🏽🏊🏼♂️😄

Coach Mandy, totally off topic, but swim related, and possibly a topic for another video... Do you have a favorite sports watch for monitoring your distance, pulse rate, and calorie burn rates?
@SWIMVICE4 жыл бұрын
robohippy no problem, honestly I have just stuck with my Apple Watch. I really like it for in and out of the water training. I’ve never tried any Garmin models only the fit bit series and Apple Watch series. I keep gravitating towards the Apple Watch. It will even track which distances I swim other strokes which I find pretty cool. The calorie and HR monitoring is spot on in both the water as well as weight training or HIIT workouts from my experience. 🙌🏽🏊🏼♂️ Hope this helps!

@@SWIMVICE Thanks! I got a fit bit Versa 2, and the swim function it is terrible. No heart rate monitor at all. It only keeps track of my swimming laps, but not my kicking laps. Also, the only function I can see while swimming is elapsed time. In reviews, the apple watch is always highly rated. Saw that Finis and Speedo also have their watches, but didn't see them mentioned in any review... May have to go with Apple. I hate wrist watches, and only wear the fit bit for exercise....

No problem - Yes, I found it to be the same as well with the Fitbit. However, I haven’t tried tracking kick laps with Apple Watch so I’m not entirely sure if it senses those movements but it’s still really good in other areas. I was actually surprised. Plus, I like that I only need one device for everything. Glad that helped! 🙌🏽

I always feel I dive too much after arm stroke, thus wait until I approach the surface for my next stroke.. which gives me VERY uncomfortable feeling under water for so long
@MsAngelPixie4 жыл бұрын
Your breaststroke is so amazing! Your balance on the water looks phenomenal. You look like a stone skipping right over the very surface of the water. Could you do something on the pull in your next breaststroke installment? I stuggle with diving too deep and almosts sinking at hand entry. I think the sinking portion might be due to the timing of my kick (i might be kicking too late). It would be nice to see some underwater shots of your breaststroke that i can compare to mine in the same phase of the stroke that would help me diagnose my problem. Thanks as always a great video
