finished another stroke improvement class with my adults and seniors and we have yet to approach breaststroke but some have asked. i'm trying to get them to control head movements and improve their flutter kick, the 2 major impediments to efficient swimming, my opinion of course. but the one thing i picked up from your video was to keep the shoulders rounded, great point. i've gottern to ther point wherfe i direct them to your site, and some have. thanks coach.

Hi coach Mandy! I am just struggling finding the source of the power that should lift my shoulders high enough to breathe. I couldn't raise my shoulders and my head high enough. So I couldn't breathe and I had to hold my breathe which made me uncomfortable. -- Do you have an idea how could I demonstrate the required power to lift my shoulders high enough?

I am just learning the breaststroke. I bob up and down in the water and do not go any where. I move my arms and kick with the flat feet to push, do not know what I am missing. I float very easily. I can put my arms in the air and pull my legs to my chest and I still float while on my back. Could this contribute to bobbing when doing breaststroke?
@SWIMVICE3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sherri, that is a great question. Yes, having a higher profile means you have to emphasize more force forward with your entire body otherwise you lose momentum. For someone like you it’s important to really drive your shoulders and arms forward to create the glide. In addition, you want to have a propulsive kick by really engaging your glutes and hamstrings through to the finish. 🙌👍 -Coach M

just one little movement of the traps was all it took to help my classes get the idea of a good breaststroke pull and of course the head position being low. by the way, is the wave style of breaststroke still being pursued??

Depends on what you are aiming for and what type of swimmer you are. If you are looking for efficiency and staying more fluid and relaxed, these points are definitely top of the list. 🙌🏊♂️👍

what about the head angle , miss ? Is it facing down 90 degree for all the time ? it is still somewhat ambiguous to me
