So happy the younger generation is discovering Elvis. Yes, definitely 1970 “That’s the way it is” special. Was filmed over six days. Which there were more of those performances. Check it out “Suspicious Minds, “Patch it up”, Poke Salad Annie and others. For the beautiful ballads where you can really hear the depth of his voice the “Aloha from Hawaii” special has more of that. We are lucky to have these iconic videos of Elvis. I watch every day and still get goosebumps.

This was a charity concert for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund. There was no set ticket price; audience members were told they could pay what they wished. Elvis bought his own ticket for $1,000. It was supposed to raise $25,000 but it raised $75,000. BACKGROUND for the SONG: Written by Mark James in '68, it is based on one night when James was fooling around on his guitar & came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James' wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." He did not move much at this concert because there were certain countries that would not be very pleased so he kept it tame. Much the perspiration was due to those mega hot house lights & stage lights, not just the jumpsuit. You could stand naked on stage & perspire heavily. Jane H …. I love the Aloha from Hawaii Live Concert 1973, which was the first live concert to be beamed to forty countries around the globe, via satellite. I watched this in New Zealand, & it was incredible to think that while I was watching it, Elvis was actually performing it in Honolulu. His costume was magnificent. He performed this same song in Las Vegas Live in 1970, & if you think this was good, you Really need to React to that performance, which was phenomenal, with Elvis at the peak of his career. Also, if you want to see a lot more kissing action from Elvis, you Must react to Love Me Tender - Las Vegas Live 1970.

Oh no!!!! Must watch 1970 LIVE in Vegas. This is NOTHING compared. Lol this was live via Satellite for the first time ever. Seen by countries all over the world... 1.5 billion viewers! He had to be tame! He goes dancing crazy in 1970. 😊 Trust the process and us loyal fans.

That's why he didn't move much. He wanted to prove himself as a vocalist. He also stood like a statue through most of his performances in late 1972 and early 1973. Mostly because he was worn out and depressed.

Yes Elvis is the rare performer thats EVEN BETTER LIVE than in the studio. Although he was phenomenal in the studio too. I love Elvis, but Aloha is perhaps his most stale and safest performance, he was extremely nervous and he had gone cold turkey and wanted to get back to his safety bubble. I'd suggest you listen to thw studio version first then WATCH the version off That's The Way It Is live in Vegas 1970 in the white suit. It's one of his most electeifying performances of the 70s, in my ooinion. But then, I'd take Elvis on a bad day over anyone else's best, barr none ❤
