Brecker Brothers feat. by WDR BIG BAND - Some Skunk Funk | GRAMMY 2007

The WDR Big Band performs the program "Some Skunk Funk" together with Michael and Randy Brecker under the direction of Vince Mendoza. Other guest soloists include Jim Beard (piano), Will Lee (electric bass), Peter Erskine (drums) and Marcio Doctor (percussion). Randy Brecker composed the tune "Some Skunk Funk'," and the arrangement for the WDR Big Band is by Vince Mendoza. Produced at the 24th "LEVERKUSENER JAZZTAGEN" (2003).
For the album the WDR BIG BAND received the GRAMMY for "Best Album by a Large Jazz Ensemble" in 2007 and Michael Brecker received the GRAMMY for Best Jazz Instrumental Solo for the tune of the same name "Some Skunk Funk".

"Missing a(n altissimo) note here and there" during an Organic Funk "Picnick" is within the realm of possibility even from within the hands of a virtuosic Jazzician like Michael Brecker - and me (lgh) The great Earl Bostic, Lenny Pickett, King Curtis and Junior Walker did, too - on a few occasions. Excellent, Michael! Rest In Paradise! Lohvissimo!
