Before you go and get two budgies with fully pink Ceres, wait! The pink Ceres mean that it's a young MALE, and the LIGHT blue Ceres mean it's a young female. Also, all females will have a white ring around the nostrils, and as long as there is a white ring around both nostrils, it means that it's a baby female. ALWAYS. If the cere is pink, but still has a white ring around the nostrils, that's still a female. Remember, white rings=female! I did extensive research on this, and it has proven to be true, as I breed budgies.

Hahaha,I learnt this in 2013,use to breed budgies back then. I figured it out by myself aswell. Went to the petstore when picking up my first ever budgie,said I wanted a male,so the lady grabs a young bird with a blue cere. Turns out it was a female,so I thought alright I'll get a male aswell,so I said I'd also want a female couple a weeks later,sure enough she picked one with a pink cere. Haha it's something all budgie owners should learn. Very important info.

Thank you for your channel and wonderful videos! I have 2 Male budgies living in a horrible cage. I ordered a new, very spacious flight cage for them which should arrive any day now. Neither of the budgies are tame, so I'm afraid of moving them into their new home. I do not want to frighten them, as I've been working on taming them with millet. Just saying you do not need to wait to see the gender if you don’t intend on breeding the budgie. If you don’t have a breeding box the budgies won’t breed no matter if it’s a male and female also you do not wanna get two budgies from one breeder and breed them because then you can get cross breeding which can result in genetic issues

Maxies The Fox , I know I am not Budgie and Aviary Birds, but you can find a nesting box in the pet store or where they sell parakeet supplies. You can also find cuttle bone there. (I found it there.) I have not found an iodine block though. But my parakeet is doing fine with just cuttle bone. (She has laid two eggs so far.) It may not be safe for the birds outside because of the cats, and it is too hot outside for them if it is 90 degrees outside. Good Luck!

Maxies The Fox I would say yes, but only if you want them to mate. I also suggest that you should put something safe for them to chew on. (I did that with my female, made her want to nest!) If she seems intimated by the box, take her to it or put things that she loves. (Food, toys, etc.) I also sprayed my birds with water a bit to get them a bit more excited about mating. If you are going to spray the birds, make sure it is not cold. (P.S. My bird now has 4 eggs, 3 or all of them are fertile, I'm pretty sure. I think one is due to hatch on July 4!) Good Luck!

Got an odd question. I have a cage of 4 budgies, 3 female and 1 male. Why is it the male will feed 2 different girls? I’ve seen him feed, preen and be preened by 1 and the other I saw him actually trying to breed... what’s going on? It’s wintertime here and the daylight it quite short. I have not provided a nestbox so there should be no eggs. I’d really like next summer to take the male and the female he feeds (she’s a beautiful sky blue and grey wing) and he is a standard green/yellow face. I think their babies would be gorgeous!... and then it means I will finally have hand tame birds again.

I noticed this is an older video but I do have some questions I have 8 parakeets my 2 oldest ones mated last September but she didn't lay them in the conventional way of every other day it was every day only laid 3 eggs and after day 5 she stopped laying on them and I took the eggs out on day 25 incase she was laying on them when I wasn't around and if it would have been enough time for them to hatch. When I took them out 2 were transparent looking as they were not fertile and one looked like it was fertile. I was disappointed of course and I had her 17 months so I know she was old enough. So this time around I picked a different female but same male and she started laying 1st one on 12/31 2nd 1/1 and that scared me that she was going the same as my other female then she laid the 3rd one 1/3 and then the 4th today 1/5 she is in the nesting box doing quite well and I feel better that she is doing every other day now as she looked a bit weak after laying the 2nd one. I'm hoping to have success this time around I plan to start hand feeding them at 21 days old and want to train them well to be very people friendly and sell them. I'm in Washington state USA. My question to you in order to be a breeder that sells them what regulations are there and what kind of paper work do you need and where do you get the bands to put on their leg?

Sir, I have settled one pair of budgies into the separate cage. Male is feeding to female and trying to make meating but female is denying to him and female is trying to climb up on male budgie. Thanks for this video! If anyone can give me advice please on what do. We purchased a Parent fed Budgie baby who didn’t leave the nest; shop owner said the Mom was ready to lay more eggs and baby was at risk to be killed. We’ve had him less than 48 hrs, I’m force hand feeding him, but he refuses to open his beak for me and really puts up a struggle; I’m pretty sure he’s not enjoying the experience, but I’m afraid he will die if I don’t do it. He’s approx 4.5 weeks old and I’m also afraid maybe he will be under nourished. Please help, thank you.

Yeah remove babies when they are about 10 weeks old because if a baby is a female when it comes into breeding it will fight over nest boxes etc

I'm curious about that too. I'm sure they would, but they might prefer privacy. If you think they want to mate but aren't, then I would either move them in another room or leave the room for a while and watch to see if the female lays eggs later on

I have a male and female budgie over 1 years old. They are not so tamed.I put a nest box in with them at the start of January but they won't even go in it.They live outside in a big cage so it's always at least 80 degrees and there is always.13+ hours Light. I give fruit and vegetables.The female is in breeding condition as she has a crusty brown cere. But they won't breed. Any advice please?
