Alonso over estimated his worth, despite being 2nd in homers to Judge, in last 5 seasons. His fielding metrics are abysmal, and that is just one of many reasons, he now won't come close to that $158 the Mets offered him.

Cubs should sign all these guys and I got a plan 😅😂😂. We have 50mil to spend. Ace Corbin Burnes wants to come back to the NL Central and be with Manager Craig Counsell. 3yrs 100mil with opt outs like Bellinger got. 33mil per. You're then gonna trade Tailion and his 17mil and get Great prospects for the Starter. 67mil-33mil leaves 34mil. You're then trading Suzuki and his $$$ for more top prospects (Yes this team already has 8 of the Top 50😅) but then signing Pete Alonso to be DH instead of Suzuki and again, walking away with more great prospects. Alonso 27mil per 4years. Not done. Alcantara a top prospect is sent for Closer Jhoan Duran to help them clear money. I'll then ok Nico and his 10mil to Seattle along with a few of these prospects we traded for for another Elite SP cost controlled. You then play Matt Shaw at 2B and can sign 3B Bergman while building the greatest farm ever which, pretty sure they already have.

Burnes will be fine since the pitching market has been robust - his contract just might be closer to Fried due to no Yankees involved + concerns about declining stuff. Bregman and Alonso, on the other hand, will need to adjust their expectations down. Walker getting 3 for 60 million is a bad sign for Alonso. He probably falls around 100 million at this point.

"K rate" = more analytics bs. 1) Is he durable? Yes! 2) Does he get guys out? Yes! If anything, the fact that he remains effective as he ages despite a lower strikeout rate is a GOOD thing because it tells you that he is a pitcher, not just a thrower.

@WeBeatMedicare6969 I get what both of you are saying, but he is still young and doesn't have an injury history, so I'm not concerned with k rate. Also more strikeouts necessitate more pitches, which leads to starters not going as deep into games, which means less innings pitched over the course of a season. So I'm never going to have a problem with a pitcher that pitches to contact. Also, there were alot of people advocating signing Blake Snell, which is crazy to me because even on a shorter contract, he is finishing it older than Corbin Burnes would at the end of a longer deal. Combined with the fact that Snell has been less consistent, has an injury history and doesn't go as deep into games. Long-term deals for pitchers are definitely risky, but I would be comfortable doing it for Burnes
