In answer to 24:23 my guess would be… “better brand recognition, better finishing, better bezel in better materials, better looks, better bracelet, MUCH better on the fly adjust clasp” … I think that’s be their answer. Yet I agree that it’s a stretch to say that all those “betters” add up to fully justify a 3grand difference! Still want one tho… can you tell?! 😂

The answer is that for $1,500 you have a Zodiac, but for $4,500 you have a Breitling.

Why do Jordan 5's go for $300-400 when you can buy nikes for $70-100? What do Jordan 5's offer that a regular nike shoe doesn't? Well probably they are two completely different products with different demand, different looks, different materials, different style. The price of an item is entirely decided by what someone is willing to pay for it, the entire fashion watch industry lives off of this concept. What does a breitling offer that a zodiac doesn't is a stupid question, people pay way more for quartz cartier watches - what does a quartz cartier watch offer that a breitling doesn't lmao.

With the bezel and that chapter ring, the watch really wears much smaller in real life because the dial is that small. I tried the black 42mm one at the store and I loved it. The thin profile really helps as well.

Breitlings finish and especial dial hands and indices finish is REALLY good.. Much better than the mentionned brands. They usually also overhaul the ETA movements and buy top grade 2892s wich are really good and not at rough 2824... >>Breitling has always been worth the money in my op.

They look a little to animated I have the Breitling Super ocean from a few years ago and don't see any reason to upgrade. Breitling changes the design of the Super ocean way to much they need to keep one design and stick with it so the style becomes well known not change it every few years. Personally if I were buying another diver I go with Doxa 300 for half the price .I do like the new Breitling is a no date like a true diver but that's really it

The new Breitlings might look strange in the pictures, but I tried the 42mm dark blue dial with the bracelet in a botique and it fit incredibly well and looked absolutely stunning. The 42 wore smaller due to the shorter lug-to-lug length and the slimmer lugs. The case was beautifully formed and finished, and would shine in the light. I was very impressed with this, although the pricing is bananas
@RedwoodAggie2 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love what Doxa's doing. I finally got to try all their models on at an AD recently. The 42mm doesn't wear as big as one would think, due to the cushion case. The 300 dial is actually a bit small for my taste, but the 300T is very sweet. I actually really liked the Sub 200 in Aquamarine. The 1500T is definitely a big watch/step up in bracelet quality, but may be a bit much even for my 7.25" wrist. The 600T is so cool looking, but did feel a bit top heavy to me, at least on bracelet. It just sat up kind of high on my wrist. I'm still trying to figure out when/how to fit a Doxa into my collection.

Superocean is a gateway watch. I predict a Kinesis movement 'traditional' diver soon.... at Omega money. Also, some rumours about a legal wrangle with Tudor over the use of this movement. But no great difference (bar power reserve) - cheaper to service. As for 42mm - they wear very small due to case design and wide chapter ring. 42 wears 39/40, especially on rubber. Side to side with the new 39 Ranger, Breitling 42 wears smaller.

Brick and mortar shops that have these sit for too long or online grays that you can call up and make offers too. It would require some leg work. But right now these aren’t widely available yet so I would try finding one at a good price next year.

38, 40, 42mm case sizes with the B20 movement then these are true competitors in the entry level diving segment. As offered, they are a bit underwhelming.

The B20 movement is thicker than the selita/ ETA. Why do you think the SuperOcean Heritage is so thick?
@kevinp43052 жыл бұрын
@@17.06.Copper Most people are not overly concerned about the thickness of a dive watch. Considering how thick the BB58 and SMP 300 are and how they still sell like hotcakes. The movement however is important here because the B20 is a far superior movement than the B17. The power reserve at 38 hours is a joke in a watch approaching 5K. I like Breitling and have owned a few in the past, but paying this much money for a watch that has a selita/ETA movement does not make sense when there are so many better options out there at this price point.

I'm a Breitling fan and I don't know where they are going now. The whole heritage push has some really nice pieces but I am totally fed up with the lack of inventive leaps they used to do with their watches. I remember going in the early 90s going into a Breitling AD and seeing all the amazing US military adverts and record breaking challenges, with the Emergency, Aerospace, Avenger and so on. They were for me the aviators watch and they were bristling with the latest technology. Now, to me they have lost their edge and lost that feather in their cap of being the number one Aviators watch of choice. They need to stop doing bloody reboots and start inventing again. Sorry for the rant.
