I know--yes, surely I do, that the 50's & 60's were NOT an " innocent time " : there was war, racism, the civil rights movement, asassinations, & more, but OMG, the music WAS wonderful, & looking back now, it WAS innocent, & I loved it so much. I didn't care about skin color, or last names, --what mattered was that the music cut through all of that, & when it was sweet & fine like this masterpiece from Smokey / Brenda & Motown, it was all that mattered. Really. Wolfsky9, 67 y/o

Thank you, this is Carol here. You got that right, Wolf. Tom was on the Enterprise, and I was in the States, and we were very soon to meet. Wolf, you've got the backdrop of the day as to the music. You are so right, and we were innocent and open to better days to come. Tom came home from the war, and...he had a long pony tail! Tom and Carol, first "date" on the city streets, a black guy with a 'fro, wearing a Dashiki raised the Fist to Tom, and Tom responded in kind. I figured Tom knew him and I asked, "Do you know that guy?" Tom said, "No, but black guys always give me the Fist, and I give it back to them." Communication! That was love! Where is the love today?

An Excellent-Excellent 're-do' of a song that I had thought was just too notoriously short!! The acoustic bass still sounds perfect for this song (given that electric present). Great extension of the orchestral portion. And, hearing the rim-shot on the snare twice!! Once at 2:46/2:47 -- then again at 3:34!!! I had always thought that that snap should have been played more than once. And, finally, that wonderful ending starting at 3:54!!! No words can express just how wonderful this sounded! Sorry about being over the top. Yes, Ms. Brenda is quite the sight to behold!! She was a very beautiful woman, indeed!! Many thanks, mosogotam!
