The Mummy Reaction is today's video!
Hey everyone! join me as I watch The Mummy for the first time! This was a great movie with all the comedy and the action along with it!
The Mummy is a rousing, suspenseful and horrifying epic about an expedition of treasure-seeking explorers in the Sahara Desert in 1925. Stumbling upon an ancient tomb, the hunters unwittingly set loose a 3,000-year-old legacy of terror, which is embodied in the vengeful reincarnation of an Egyptian priest who had been sentenced to an eternity as one of the living dead.

what happened to Brendan Fraser was tragic. he was essentially sexually assaulted by a big exec in hollywood and when he spoke out against it he was blackballed and he career tanked. after that, he had to have major surgery for one of the stunts he did in one of the Mummy movies and due to complications he had health issues. thankfully, he got back on his feet, his career has taken a bit of an upswing in the past few years and I hope he continues to make a comeback because he's always been one of my favorite actors.

I've said it before and I will always say it with both pride and confidence: The Mummy AND The Mummy Returns are both better than The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor. I LOVE the chemistry between Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz (love Maria Bello, but her faked accent left everything to be desired) and while I LOVE Jet Li, Arnold Vosloo plays a villainous ancient corpse way better.

In my honest opinion the second one was the best of all the trilogy. The first one was great for introducing us to the universe. The third one I enjoyed the idea that we decided to take a look at China and their folklore for a change. The only thing I really enjoyed about the Tom Cruise version was just the mummy herself.

Fun fact/theory which I only recently discovered about Imohtep thinking Evie was his dead girlfriend, is that he took Burnsie's eyes. Burnsie who wore glasses and had bad eyesight 😂😂 Edit: Another fun fact which I had to put because you said Benny looked like Igor from Transylvania is that that actor DID play Igor, in Van Helsing! He was unrecognisable with all the prosthetics, but I recognised his voice instantly first time I watched it 😁😂

So fun fact, this movie is actually a remake as well. The original The Mummy is actually from 1932 and is considered a monster movie classic. This film of course is a more campy, B movie compared to the original which is funny and refreshing. So the 2017 movie is a cash grab remake of a beloved over-the-top remake of a somewhat forgotten but still loved by many classic. That's a lot, 😂
@GBelmont87
@GBelmont87 2 жыл бұрын
Did you really call this movie b-tier? What? 😂
@yukitenchi1513
@yukitenchi1513 2 жыл бұрын
@@GBelmont87 not b-tier, B rated. B rated films are movies that just didn't have a bigger budget compared to other movies out at the time. They are films that are usually deemed the "not so important"/backup or back burner project. This film has a couple hick ups that many people at the time noticed as well. The backgrounds, especially in the beginning, has a PS3 graphics effect and the mummy at times has an odd look. You can tell in a lot of scenes that he isn't really there or that some effects on him were really over the top. There were many films at the time that could blend CGI like magic to the point that it was hard to tell the difference, but the budget in this film was not completely there as this was a first time director and Hollywood are assholes to who gets money for certain pitches. You can tell a lot of the budget went towards practical effects and that they used CGI in cases they had to. The team they had did a damn good job, but you can still tell when CGI takes center stage in this film sometimes, which shows the budget of the time. This is indeed a B rated film, which isn't a bad thing, it just means it wasn't expected to do well which means lower budget. Also, technically compared to the original The Mummy, yes, this is a B Rated campy comedy adventure movie. Which isn't bad, in fact its what made it stand out even among critics at the time as some loved it to bits or downright despised it for being to over the top, but majority agreed it was a contender for the market as a lot of films were flopping.

Imoteph controlled the city with the plagues and the locals felt under his mind controlling because of this. The 4 americans were the ones opening the chest that contained Imoteph's organs, so they are gonna be consumed by him as he takes over their organs to regenerate. (why imoteph took the eyes of the one man that had bad vision is beyond me but...nah movie) I found it actually pretty effective that the never really show how he does this. The closest thing we got is that one blonde american who's shadow on the wall gives an indication of what's happening and it's terrifying. In the second movie i recall they do show it, on screen and it was weird. Sometimes don't show the beast. your imagination can be way scarier :)

The heart is not actually in a canopic jar, because that is in the body. The book of the dead would have been on a papyrus scroll, scarabs don't eat people, and there isn't really a city of the dead. Most of it is made up for the movie, but it is entertaining to watch.

On a more certain note, the runaway friend is known for, among other things, voicing Anastasia's Bartok (this is wrong. I'm just off my game today.). He also bruises easily, so the fan scene did a number on him. (This is actually true.) The year before this premiered, Kevin J. I actually have some interesting facts of the Egyptian culture that is not matching with this film. For example, there are only four organ jars, not five, and the last thing, just so this doesn't become too long or hated, but the last thing I think is interesting is that the "Book of the Dead" is actually a scroll not an actual book.

So much better than the god awful Tom Cruise 2017 reboot! The Reboot took itself way too seriously. Several directors were considered for the job: Wes Craven, John Carpenter, John Landis, Mick Garris, Clive Barker, Tobe Hooper, and George Romero. Stephen Sommers drew inspiration from not only the original 1932 film, but called it a cross between "Indiana Jones Meets Jason And The Argonauts or Clash Of The Titans meets The Ten Commandments." Kurt Russell, Sylvester Stallone, Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Tom Cruise, and Matt Damon were considered for O'Connell. The film was a box office and critical success making $420 million dollars against a $75 million dollar budget.

Scorpion King is actually not close to as good as the trilogy. The Rock's movie career luckily survived that movie ;P Loved these movies growing up, it showed the rare occasion that the 2nd live up to the first!

After watching the mummy, and it's sequels, you have to watch the scorpion king from 2002.
