A person who have a hard time trusting people, has many reasons why not to trust someone. For all these years of being overly nice to people, I always get manipulated and used. Then I realized that my intense love and care for people attracts toxic people. It hurts me a lot but I'm grateful for this lesson. It thought me to change, be more wise, and have balance. Now my life is getting better. I'm no longer being used as punching bag except if I allow it. I have more control with my life, situations, and emotions. I no longer care what others think and I've learned to put my own needs first before others. Because you can not give what you do not have. I'm very grateful to God for freeing me from the suffering.

Something that became very clear to me when i went camping alone was that without the existence of other people it's impossible to even know who you are at all. Everything you know about yourself is in relation to others. Any traits or opinions you have can only be known to you by the existence of something else to compare them to. For example you can only know you are funny if you make other people laugh and also if other people are unfunny by comparison. You can only know you are strong if others are weaker. You can only know you are tall of other people are shorter. Even the language you speak and the name you go by are given to you. There is nothing about us that is self made in any way and yet here we are

@InvictusAlchemy2 жыл бұрын
If you spend no time alone to know who you are as separate from everyone else I can see how this would be the case, but I can tell the difference between me and other people and the opinions and ideas that are passed down to us. Where I want to stand up in my own beliefs even if they’re different and where I don’t want to challenge ideas because it’s stubbornness making me want to challenge them in the first place or there’s truly a better way to do it, if you’ll be listened to or followed in creating those changes for more than just your own life in the first place. Like he says, it’s all relative and we can’t come to a perfect truth, but we can be aware of our own strengths and weaknesses and know where we can stand independently or need to join arms with others to balance those qualities out, learn to balance them better and be contributing to our families, communities and society as a whole more effectively without feeling like you have no identity or control in any of it anyway. We absolutely have free will and there is always a way to know yourself more deeply than in comparison to everything and everyone else. We can feel complete and whole and be genuinely present with the awareness of whether we should engage in comparison or stand apart. I don’t agree that we never can really know if we’re being manipulated as Robert is saying because it’s a tangible feeling that our nervous system picks up on but if we don’t know how to listen to what our body is telling us or someone else’s is, that’s when we fall into the trap of trusting someone who’s just being manipulative versus supportive and holding you accountable to your best.
@TheGiantMidget2 жыл бұрын
@@InvictusAlchemy yes but what you have to remember is even in the absence of other people in your company your traits still exist in pairs of opposites. So even if you are a hermit you have to have had a frame of reference at some point in your life to know what those traits are

My main point is that if we had no sense of identity as separate from anyone else we wouldn’t be watching this interview at all. @baileys63462 жыл бұрын
This is silly. Psychopaths for the most part are just people who have high deficits in emotional intelligence. It’s not that they’re emotionless, it’s that they have poor impulse control, no consideration for morality, and are basically emotionally impaired/disabled. They have very little capacity for interrupting their poor behavioral patterns. We fall privy to bullshitting and manipulation through what we find salient to us. We don’t lie to ourselves, we distract ourselves. To avoid manipulation, an individual needs to be able to self-reflect on their distractions and salience landscape.

Never wanted to socialize. Because this has been the narrative by consumer corps to materialize their peer pressure. Im so lucky to have a loving wife and a son. My wife feels the same and we enjoy life to the fullest.
@Jaime-eg4eb2 жыл бұрын
I find it insane when people justify highly unreasonable behavior with "we are social animals". The guy getting sacrificed on top of a pyramid by his peers was also a social animal. Doesn't mean you shouldn't look at your surroundings and make informed decisions about how you want to interact with the people in your society (or not).
@foxiefair123 Жыл бұрын
Why would anyone want to be a part of society when all people do is look at their phones and their Facebook pages while they’re hanging out with you and no one really wants to have an intelligent conversation. Forget them being there for you when you’re going through stuff because they’re so busy they can’t even bother to talk with you for more than 5 minutes.
@r.mucklin1703 Жыл бұрын
There's nothing wrong with detaching from a society that is toxic, which it seems to me our society is these days. My connection is spiritual, and I'm perfectly happy being alone----and beyond some common neuroticism I think I'm perfectly normal. Media has very little influence on me as I am an avid reader and I choose my books carefully and read even those critically, and I connect with nature by nature journaling. I just have never felt that I need much connection with other people, even though I am thankful for the society around me when I need something, like a grocery store or a mechanic. Other than that I can be alone for weeks with my books and paper and pencil, and did very well during the Covid lock-downs.
@1233-h1 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Same here. I live this way also. I was quite happy during lockdown as everything was so quiet and peaceful. I eliminated a lot of useless busybody nonsense. I went back to reading, writing and meditation and didn't miss people at all. I've let that carry over to post pandemic and have allowed most human relationships to die quietly. The other thing about isolation is that my senses became acute from within. When there's little to no chatter the inner voice/inner self kicks in. Had amazing insights and when I did interact with people I could hear what they were not saying, read their unconscious body language etc. I ended some relationships because I realized they did not like me but hung on because of convention or for some benefit that was incidental. A couple of others could no longer hide that they were users so I told them good bye and I had nothing else for them. Human companionship is way overrated and a little of it goes a long way. In addition the world is full of non human life forms to communicate and be around. Same thing happened to me with animals. Very sensitive to what they are thinking and feeling. Many times theyll seek me out. I am grateful to the people who smooth my way in life such as the grocery store, the library, ticket agents etc. but I keep ALL human relations impersonal except for one sibling. Peace

@r.mucklin1703 Жыл бұрын
@@ankushdhawale4628 Congratulations!.All that's needed is paper and pencil and curiosity. You will hone your observation skills, and don't need to know how to draw, although as you continue with your efforts you will improve just by sketching what you see in front of you., even in your back yard or watching a seed grow in a pot. Forget pretty pictures, but just note whatever you are curious about. You can also do it via writing, both poetry and prose. There is much good information on nature journaling on the internet, with one of the best teachers being John Muir Laws. As you observe nature more intensely you will find your mind clears of all the crap we get fed every day. Hope you enjoy.

@@KZbinHandIe Well, actually I don't consider myself a "lone wolf", even if I'm perfectly happy being alone. There is a thing that can happen where a denial of something is actually like an unconscious affirmation, but on the other hand a denial can in fact be true, like if I say “I am not a murderer”. Its important not to overgeneralize or overstate the scope of psychological insights. Not every denial, or even most denials, necessarily mean the opposite.
@LaitoChen Жыл бұрын
You're making a false equivocation. There's no hole in his argument and you're being purposeful obtuse. The denial he speaks of is generated by insecurity. You know this. What would make a reasonable person have to state "I'm not a murderer" outside of a court of law where objective facts are being contested ? What world do you live in?!?
@neththom999 Жыл бұрын
@@LaitoChen First of all, I'm living at yo mammas house. Secondly, the example "I am not a murderer" is an extreme one in order to drive home the point that not all denials are proof of their opposite, which is true, as you've conceded. Thirdly, equivocation is an "informal fallacy resulting from the use of a particular word/expression in multiple senses within an argument." I only used one sense of the word "denial" to simply refer to when someone denies something, THE SAME SENSE in which Robert Greene used it in the video. What I added was nuance about what it could mean / what it could be evidence of. Not everyone walks around with a complete lack of insecurity like yourself. Some are sensitive, some have been traumatized, abused etc. Some even confess to crimes they did not commit, think about that one. It shows just how far insecurity can go while still not reflecting reality. Psychology is complicated.

The only reason I'm trying to make friends at college is because my mother orders me to do so and I have to listen to her or else she will scream at me and call me names and say "why aren't you making friends, you don't want to be alone for the rest of your life or else you'll be unhappy and no guy will marry you if you have zero friends." I made a friend recently but she used me and I didn't even know it.. I am good at connecting with people and I leave off a good impression when I first encounter someone, however, once I start becoming their friend (ex. In College) they show their true colours and ghost me or talk behind my back idk why. I'm such a sweet kind soul who's genuine and love hearing people talk but it's like every girl hates me or is jealous of me. I feel self conscious when I wear feminine outfits because they make me look pretty so now I wear tomboyish outfits and try to appear masculine and no one even look my way because I look intimidating which I kinda like. No one talks to me or gives me nasty looks anymore. I don't want to go out there and make friends with other girls. I just wanna read my books and sip my coffee in a Cafe.

One of the advantages of solitude is that you learn who you really are and what reality really is. I know because I have lived alone off grid for 2 years. It’s a good place to think and heal. The more you face reality without the trappings and manipulation of society. If done right when you renter society you see things as they are, not what how they want to be perceived.

The dark side is the tendency to conform we need to see people's eyes to make us feel alive and conscious. We want to attach ourselves to something bigger than us Movies and drugs manipulating out emotions are you being active or are you being passive. Active = engaged Passive being a part of the herd We are always being manipulated The moment you think you are the one person who cannot be manipulated is a bad thing . You are human The ability to step back and look at yourself and not give into the emotion have some humility. The only way to get out of these negative emotions is to be aware that they are in you. Denying it is a sure thing that you actually have the problem. When you Deny something you are unconsciously admitting the opposite The people who really succeed stand out they are confident they have a point to reach. You have to be bold Don't be afraid of failure don't be afraid of losing , the fear withers the soul
