Brendel tells a lovely story (I forget where, and can't find it) of a recital at which he played Op.31/1. At the end of the first movement, an elderly lady in the front row leaned to her neighbour and said, a little too loudly, "He's very good. But he can't play with his hands together, can he?"

So far I find this the best interpretation of this sonata.

I listened to four in a row recently, having been captivated in a recital given by Gabriele Carcano, and found all four brought out the individuality of the interpeter in different ways. One thing's for sure - a sense of humour is essential. As Brendel said, if you don't make the audience laugh, become an organist.

Alfred Brendel is the absolute best for classical period music. His touch and precision at the keyboard exemplifies what classical period music should sound like.

No está ejecutado demasiado rápido el primer movimiento? Siento que algo se pierde...

Sorry, but I think the best interpretation has Daniel Barenboim ...
