*Dale Steyn was fast and wicket taking..he was very consistent bowler..if you look at his deliveries most of them are wicket to wicket..straighters he gives them small movement to get edge otherwise he knocks stumps down..he stayed at no 1 rank for 6 years..he was so consistent and good..I reckon that was the golden time of South Africa they were at peak* McGrath from Aus and Pollack from Africa were other two bowlers who used to bowl consist wicket to wicket

Yup , he was a bit casual in his professional career ...Taking 600 wickets is not a big deal but in how many matches is the question ... Anderson took 151 matches ...McGrath would have taken 132 matches ..Steyn in his prime would have taken 119-120 matches

Those last two were not specialist " batsmen" Those were bowlers trying to defend themselves ah had it hit them on fingers or elbow they wouldn't be able to to ball in whole match. They were chicken too 😅

Dale Steyn, a country boy. Also known as The Phalaborwa Express. Phalabowra stands at the gateway to South Africa's famous and fabulous Kruger National Park game reserve. But back to Dale Steyn. He didn't predominantly bowl wicket to wicket. His stock ball was the out-swinger (forgotten its equivalent in baseball)which moves away from the right-hander and tails in to a lefty. He'd often lure the batsman across his stumps with this delivery then bowl the straight one. Gabe picked up something interesting in watching his delivery. He had a pronounced flick of the wrists. In cricket you are not allowed to straighten your arm more than fifteen degrees but you can flick your wrist as much as you want. That pumping of his arm when he got a wicket became more and more pronounced as he went on in his career. It became known as The Chainsaw. Certain Australian commentators used to refer to him as Crazy Eyes because of his passionate celebrations after taking a wicket. The shots Nick was referring to are known as the forward defense and the backward defense. They are very definite movements in cricket known as strokes. You play back off the back foot for short balls and forward off the front foot for balls that are pitched up. Gabe: The king of annoying batsman was the dour Yorkshire man and England test opener, Geoffrey Boycott, a great player, who could attack if he wanted to but spent countless hours blunting the opposition bowling attack. He would leave alone anything off the stumps, waiting the bowlers out until they got impatient and bowled on the stumps. The he would pick them off.

You're right about those batsmen playing foolishly because they're just not good batsmen. In cricket all 11 players need to bat so when the specialist bowlers come to bat they do these kinda foolish things. Even Dale himself is a horrible batsman. But that isn't a liability coz of his bowling. Usually 4 bowlers are there in every team who bat the last, they're called the 'tailenders', bowlers like Dale wrap them up pretty quickly and they fall like dominoes. Sometimes tailenders are able to put up a resitance and it's really enjoyable when that happens as the bowling side gets desperate to get them out. Some tailenders even have scored centuries which is a big feat.

He helped South Africa win series in Australia for the first time, contributed to the retirement of 2 English captains, and took South Africa to number 1 ranking in Tests. An absolute superstar! Quick note: When the ball deviates off the ground it’s called “seam” when it’s a fast bowler bowling, and “spin” when it’s a spin bowler. So Dale “seamed” the ball rather than “spun” it 😊

The folks at the end were bowlers, so they aren't great at batting to start off with. It may also be that they don't want to be hit on their toes because it might mean that their team would lose one of the playing 4 bowlers to injury while doing batting.

Steyn is the greatest bowler of his generation. He was the number 1 test bowler from 2006-2014. He broke his color bone which killed his numbers a bit but his a living legend.

Tail end batsmen (no 10 and 11 in the order) generally don’t enjoy fast bowling. Sometimes they’ll wrongly anticipate a bouncer and take an involuntary step away. However, most of them are pretty brave.

Dale Steyn is South Africas leading wicket taker in tests with 439 wickets at an average of 22.95 (Wickets/Runs conceded) which is 8th overall but everyone above him has played far more test matches i like how you suggested people just wanted to survive Dale Steyn which is true but it was largely futile as the other bowlers during his career where Morne Morkel 309 wickets at 27.66 Vernon Philander 224 @ 22.32 and at the start of his career he also had Shaun Pollock who is SA 2nd highest wicket taker with 421 @ 23.11 there bowling attack was unbelievable during this time there was nowhere to hide

As Steyn bowls at the stupms, if you get on your back foot and make some room to hit the ball, there's a possibility that you could be able to pick up some runs. Some great aggressive batmen like ABD follows this strategy a lot. And, they could also protect themselves from getting hit by the ball.

It's called swing, not spin. The ball isn't changing direction because it spins, well that has some contribution to it, but mainly in swings in air for a fast bowler. The bowlers who rather spin and turn the ball off the ground are called spinners. They have slower ball speed and they depend on the turn they produce.

The reason why those batsmen are leaving the wicket unguarded and hitting "foolishly" is because when you have the last few batsmen left, bowlers tend to bowl more yorkers and on the legs. So if you want to give yourself space to hit a shot on the off side, you could move back and do so. Especially since it might be the last few overs and you want to make those drives to get the sixes and fours and you don't care about the wicket so much.

Guys, great reaction as usual.. Dale Steyn was lethal!! Just one thing, you use words 'spin' & 'swing' wrong.. Fast bowler never spins a ball, he 'swings' it.. Spin bowling is different.. Dale Steyn, Bret Lee etc. are fast bowlers whereas Muralitharan, Shane Warne etc. are spinners. These two spinners are the highest wicket takers in the history of cricket. You wanna check them out too!!

A batsman can only try to cover the line of the ball, difficult to manage the late swing.. after pitching. He hardly get a fraction of a second to negotiate. Easier to handle a full toss than the one that pitches. The seam does tricks .

nick my bro u r confused why they are defensive because its a test match have 5 day of match 90 overs in day and each team team bat twice in 5 days match and most of batsman in test match are very very less aggressive they do not wanna give there wicket easily u will find lots of batsman scoring 100+ runs in 250 balls .. and in the end of the video u see some Bangladesh batsman getting out so easily exposing there stumps because in we call them tale-enders mostly are bowlers who have very very less talent in batting and yes some of tale-enders do afraid to get hit thats why those Bangladesh batsman batting very wired lol . every team have tale-enders in it some team have very decent tale-enders that sometime they shock the world scoring double century but its happen very less , mostly 1 to 6 wickets batsman only score runs , thats why in cricket all rounders are in very much in demand because they do bat - bowl and fielding at same lelvel like example right now Andre Russel is biggest all rounder that i like most , u have already done a video where he hitting huge six's but that dude can take stunning catches in field and can bowl 148 km hours in many matches he bowled 150 km plus as well . i hope u get it test match is very different game in cricket not like 50 over match and 20 over match where people get out trying to hit big shots . and plz tell gabe stop calling sniping the bowl mate fast bowler do not spin its called swing , spin & spinning is for slow spin blowers like Shane Warne that u know already 😁

there is no strategy those Batsmen are actually not batsmen.... they are the tail enders i.e. they are Bowlers they specialize in Bowling and not batting hence they are at the tail of the line up. use of batting technique is not expected off them hence they just swing the bat wildly(most of them)
