When I said there are no 3" 28 gauge I was speaking of slugs (and I may be wrong on that but I haven't been able to find any). There are a few companies making 3" 28 gauge birdshot but that's a different topic and of course you'd need one of the few available shotguns chambered for 3" 28 gauge to be able to use it. -- @ 21:06 you can see the actual slug exit the pine board set up and fall out onto the saw horse.

I'm surprised anyone offers a slug in 28ga. Hopefully this will encourage other companies to follow their lead -start selling other brands in 28, and also sell more 28ga shotguns. Thanks for the kind words too! I took a double-take seeing the shirt! lol

There's not much demand for them but I think there could be as it is a useful round much more powerful than a .410 but much less recoil than a 20 gauge. You deserve all the praise I can throw at your channel and more. I know how hard you have to work to produce content of that quality on a regular basis. I'm just a part time one a week video producer and it sometimes takes every minute of free time I have to put something worthwhile together. I love the shirt, O.G. sent it to me!

You made a good point about 20 gauge slug recoil. I have a NEF single barrel in 20 gauge, a very light firearm. The recoil of a 3" 20 gauge slug out of it is every bit as much as that from a 2.75" 12 gauge slug out of my Maverick 88, and only slightly less than that of a 3" slug out of the Mav.
@buffalosoutdoors6 жыл бұрын
I've had similar results. My youth model (I prefer the term compact) 20 gauge 870 has some potent recoil with magnum loads comparable to a 12 gauge.

My Remington 28 gauge shot gun was acquired in 1956 for Christmas. At that time there was a larger selection of ammunition available including slugs. Today it is difficult to find ammo unless you special order it and even then selection is very limited. But I love my weapon and the memories of it. Looking the worse for wear due to age and usage over numerous years but it still works like new and is fun to shoot.

Great video my friend - as always. I for one have approximately 1000 12 gauge slugs in inventory at all times, as I find them to be a devastatingly useful projectile for both entertainment and hunting. In fact, the shotgun would no doubt be my singular firearm if to only own one (and maybe sneak in my 22 LR).

Everyone that tries the 28 gauge loves it. 410 is just not powerful enough to hunt with. A great round for those that want to use their 28 gauge to hunt coyotes or deer. It seems to me that for self defense the 28 will get the job done, it don't matter how dead one is with a 12, 20 or 28 gauge. Recoil is less, what's not to like? Sadly there are plenty of great cartridges out there snubbed by the masses. I'd love to have a .358 win bolt rifle in 22" bbl, but I can't unless a go custom which is not happening. Then am forced to compromise with either less or more, when exactly what I need is available. The reason I go .358 and not .35 whelen is to keep it in the reloading family of .308 and quite frankly the .35 is just as rare and a bit more than I need. Rant over. Liked and subscribed. Keep theem coming.

I have in my 1963 gun Digest of the domestic ammo mfg's making foster type slugs for the 28ga..These were 1/2-ounce only by Remington and Federal cartridge. These were very weak compared to the Brenneke 5/8's ounce slugs. (In 1963,28ga.slugs were $4.90 for 5 rounds)

Let's be honest with each other, are you buying the .410 or the 28 if you're only buying one? How reliable has the .410 viper been? Will the Henry .410 single shot ever be available?

For the record I never trust anyone who starts a conversation with "let's be honest" as if they hadn't been for a really long time LOL. As usual a fine vid. Thx alot. -Could the decrease in "tilt" of the slug/wad be due to the slug stabelizing more after longer flight? 25->50 yards Since the Tristar is gasoperated, it's not a lot of velocity loss. Surprising amount of power in that little slug and a very nice board rig. It calls for more :) Again thx for a 24min of relaxing info. Thumbs up
