Loads on the south coast now too in November. Love their sounds.

Yes, their constant calling really sets the scene. I just got back from another trip to Isle of Sheppey where there were thousands of them feeding in fields.

Beautiful video! I’ve seen these at Walpole bay near Margate! Never see them in Whitstable where I live but I’d love to see them there. x

Almost all of this footage was shot on the beach between near Seasalter. I think in some of the shots you can see Whitstable. In autumn you should be able to see flocks of Brent Geese coming off of the North Sea and heading down the Swale from Whitstable sea front and small numbers of them will feed on the mud at low tide. The big flocks are usually a bit further down the Swale at Graveney. The sound is amazing.

@@BirdingwithNick Thank you! I will loiter about more between Oare and Graveney in the winter months to catch more sightings of these lovely small geese!

Just as the tide starts to go out is a good time. Small patches of eel grass begin to get exposed close to the shore and small parties of the geese arrive to nibble the tops. As the tide goes out large numbers of them arrive to forage on the mud.

@@BirdingwithNick That’s what I noticed at Walpole bay… they would congregate in the water on the north side of the bathing pool then they would fly to the rocks when the tide was outgoing on the south side of the pool to feed. Looking forward to winter at Walpole bay!

I did a fair bit of birding in winter very close to you then at Foreness. Check out this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gISwkpiDe9SaecU - I am sure it will show you some very familiar sights.

Thanks for those nice comments. Being out in that lonely area with thousands of geese calling makes you think you are in the middle of nowhere when in reality it is just an hour from London.

Thanks for having no background music

Hahaha, yes, I prefer to bring the sound of the environment to the viewer, although I have dabbled in a little atmospheric music in one video. Your feedback on this is appreciated.

Cheers, thanks for that. Yes, the sound of these geese is quite something out on the mud flats.

Last year I found one of them in Jacksonville Florida. They don't normally come that far south but it happens 😃 Good job with video editing!

That's an interesting record. It must have thought it would have a nice holiday somewhere warm.
