Even though this is clearly just a bit of Christmas fun, this could actually be a really fun way to demonstrate how absurd these gurus really are in a nice bite size appealing format, especially with those clips of the gurus actually saying those things in between, I vote for this series to continue with other gurus !

"Professor Dave" recently made an extensive video debunking the Weinstein brothers which if watched, you'll never take either seriously again. Hope you do not mind mentioning another channel because this one is so entertaining in what you do.
@michellelewis30639 күн бұрын
Weinstein discusses science mostly, the evidence. You are free to disbelieve that evidence, but disproving it takes some work, which itself is then open to review and critique. 'Debunking' is a rather unscientific claim.

Was able to deduce question 1 by thinking like a grifter and just going for a questionable-cause fallacy. There were probably some newer pesticides being developed and used et scale at that time period. And good chance the government would have some hand in protecting its population’s food supply. So Brett will just say that’s the cause. Easy. Looking back, he probably could do the same correlation/causation fallacy with “nutrition deficiency” during the great depression… but he’d need extra steps to pin enough blame to “shadow” powers at be, so… I stand behind my deductive skills lol
@Michael-kp4bd4 күн бұрын
Question 5 is similarly easy… there’s no perpetrator for the Aurora Borealis to blame and cry victim. It’s just kinda a cute story. So that didn’t come from the grifter.

@decodingthegurus one paper questioning it is fine. It just makes it seem it was more difficult to find a list of grievances than you advertise about the guy. Even otherwise relatively reputable sources seem to have missed that one. Given the context of 3-hour ramble on JRE it feels a bit filler to include it
@decodingthegurus4 күн бұрын
@@zicada7661 It took less than 2 mins to find that paper. A quick google should take you to something like this for example, where it is mentioned: www.smithsonianmag.com/history/ten-myths-about-1918-flu-pandemic-180967810/. The hypothesis itself is primarily based on a single paper from 2009. It's extremely funny that you think after hearing the list that it would be hard to find other items. You could make a list of 30 insane things Bret has said in 2024 and still have 20 questions left over.

Anyone can take clips of a person out of context and dismissively chuckle about their misrepresented ideas. If it relieves stress in your life, I can understand it. The thing is a lot of people are able to recognize the tactic of pretending to be intellectually superior, while failing at good faith engagement with intellectual content. There is a substantive difference between smugly gladhanding, and a process of actually "decoding", or making something intelligible.
@domenicgalata14709 күн бұрын
I would be surprised if anyone could show me anything from Brett ( or Eric for that matter ) that is actually grounded in reality/ actual science because everything I’ve seen makes me think he’s a buffoon that got called out for his BS and he parlayed that into grifting a right leaning audience for the money. No easier group of marks for even a half assed con man to win over than the right wing audience.
@NinjaMonkeyPrime8 күн бұрын
Anyone can claim something is taken out of context, pretending to know the truth, but providing zero evidence to support that claim isn't a good faith argument, it's just another way to say nuh-uhh.
