I went to college with a deaf guy who loved music. Some of it was cochlear implants, but he also read lyrics as poetry and would lean against loud-enough speakers to feel it. He could actually hum somewhat accurately, apparently because the vibrations in his throat/chest felt similar to the vibrations from the speakers. It was heartwarming to learn about it.

I met this guy online, and after a while we started texting. He texted and asked if I wanted to go out on a date. I messaged my group of 3 close friends and asked them how I should respond. One girl sent me “Sure! That sounds great! I’m free on (insert date here). Does that work for you? Boom. There you go.” My lazy ass copied that text and pasted it into the chat box and sent it to the guy… without editing out “insert date here,” and “Boom. There you go.” Almost 5 years later we’re married with two kids. 😂

Here’s mine: My husband is a pastor, and on a Saturday night I was getting a migraine, which I often have. I knew we had services in the morning, and I was out of the medication that I usually take for migraines. I play the piano for church and it was important for me to be there since no one else plays, so I decided to try something my daughter had left in the fridge when she was visiting. She had some “special chocolate”, and I had heard that the “special” part of it could help pain. So I ate a square. Waited for about 30 minutes and didn’t feel anything, so I ate a little more. In another 30 minutes, I was hyperventilating, couldn’t move, couldn’t talk, was pale as a ghost, and convinced I was on my deathbed. My husband was horrified at how I looked and called an ambulance. An ambulance AND fire truck came to our house in the middle of the night, for all our neighbors to see. They came in and assessed me and said, “Sir, your wife isn’t dying. She is high.” It did help the headache though. Lol AND, I made it to church! 😂

I'm a disabled veteran and have to wear a colostomy bag on my stomach. last March my wife and I got married and traveled to Hawaii for our honeymoon. She REALLY wanted to go zip lining and I thought I could make it work. I mean, I've gone skydiving with while wearing one before. Immediately after going down our first line, the harness gripped my stomach and ripped off my colostomy bag and I got covered in...you know...and it was in front of a large group of tourists. The best part was the awkward hour long Uber ride back to the hotel while crutching a bunch of t-shirts on my stomach.

Embarrassing story time - Years and years ago, I was in the airport trying to get through the security checkpoint, when I set off the metal detector. I got pulled aside, and a sweet older lady who bore a striking resemblance to my grandmother gave me the once over with the wand. Of *course* it beeps right around crotch level. Flustered, I start to try to explain to this nice old lady the concept of genital piercings - I was sure that some recently acquired hardware was to blame. Just as she got a look of horrified understanding, another agent came over to assist. It was my belt buckle.

The most embarrassing thing I can think of is my junior year of high school in my English class two girls were complaining about their dads and another girl just popped off on them and told them they are “lucky to even have a dad” and I replied back at room volume when everyone was dead silent saying “Well I don’t blame him for leaving” to this day I still laugh about and don’t regret it for a second.

I can beat that first story. My daughter and I went to the library to find books in order to learn ASL because I was going more deaf than I already am. We were in the languages section (filled with people) and I looked at her and said " I wonder if they have any audio books because the instructions to learn might be easier than looking at pictures." We both broke every bit of silence by laughing hysterically. I told her it was time to go because I was not worthy of being in the house where they keep all the books of knowledge.

I was born with hyper-hearing and could hear every word said in a large crowded room. About 15 years ago I had an ear infection in both ears that I ignored for four months…that left me deaf. My wife is deaf. Zero in her right ear and around 15% in her left ear. We rigged up induction loops in our previous two houses so that she could use the T setting on her hearing aid to listen to the TV, radio, etc. Modern technology has improved and her latest hearing aid has bluetooth. She can use it for the TV and she listens to CDs every day. If you're deaf but have a small amount of hearing, there are solutions.

For context: my husband and I have a successful business we run out of our home, which we had recently paid off, we were involved with a large ministry at the time of this story, had two beautiful children and had recently taken a vacation to Kentucky to visit the creation museum. So with all that under my belt, I bumped into an old friend from high school. I asked her how she's doing cause it's been about 4 years. She's doing good, looking for an apartment, just finished her 4 years on psychology and is going for her masters, wants to be a psychologist to help children, she's doing great. She then turns the conversation around, "how have you been, Kelsey? What have you been up to?" First words out of my mouth: "Makin' babies!" 🤦‍♀️ Of all the things I could've said! My friend then turns very red and admits she has somewhere important to be right then and disappears and I still haven't heard from her again

I went on a fun skiing trip with my family! It was a pleasant experience, other than the fact I lost control of my ski's and practically ploughed through a group of kids in front of all their parents... They were not happy with me.

When I was in the 2nd grade I had bangs that went just below my eyes. I was also an avid reader. One day in class I was annoyed my bangs got in the way of me reading and I took safety scissors and cut them off to my forehead and continued reading. Needless to say, my teachers banned me from saftey scissors for the rest of the year, my dad made me run laps (I played soccer) and I wore headbands for a while. Don’t trust a GT kid to not ‘solve’ something they deem a problem, it will just lead to impulsive decisions.

When I was a preschool teacher a parent told their kid "Bye I love you have a good day" and I was tired and didnt have my coffee and I said "bye you too!" he literally froze and looked me dead in the eyes and said "I was talking to my son." I avoided him as much as possible after that.
