It's always a good day when Brett has a review of the pedal you're interested in...

Brett, the pedal sounds great...but your playing is what's truly shining here. Outstanding!

how was it? I already got tubescreamer and Boss Sd1.. wonder if this still a good addition or excess. Thanks

Thank you for demoing this! I got excited when I saw the release of it, but hardly anyone talked about it or demoed it. It's finally sounding amazing on both the bridge and neck positions of a guitar, and that eq fixes all my complaints with the old models

One of the best pedal reviews online! Deciding between this and a Walrus Audio, iron horse
@272needler3 жыл бұрын
Which did you end up with? I been thinking of the Iron Horse to replace my Rat, but always read that the Iron Horse is too bassy/muddy.

I can't believe I almost sold mine. I sat down with it for 3 hours. It's probably the best OD/Dist. pedal I've ever played. I also have a modded OD-3, ODR-S, TS-10, TS-7, EQD Grey Channel. The Super Crunch Box V2 just beats them all. Brett's extended demo shows what it can really do. Dripping with soul and produces many, many tones. Just try one.

I have watched a few people try and show what this pedal can do and my God they made some horrible noises[ including Dan and Mick, sorry boys ] but you made music man and navigated the many sounds of this pedal with ease and grace, I think you just sold it and I am going to buy it on the basis of this video good on ya Mr Kingman.

I had to come back to Watch this Again. Aside from: your "Most Tasty Playing" - the Incredible Versatility-of-Tones you got from this pedal was like Ear Candy !!! Brett - How Noisy is it ? I am torn between This . . . and the Amptweaker Tight Rock Pro ??? You Killed-It with the Solo work on this one man. Phenomenal.

I bought one of these when they came out and then sold it for some strange reason. Bought another about a year later and after comparing it with a number of other similar pedals I sold the 'others'. This is a seriously great pedal, but I wish they would redesign the box, it just looks cheap haha!!

I have to add this is the best demo of this pedal beacuse it starts with the lowest gain... ( so it CAN be used gain very low and still the tone is superb!!!)

Anyone wanna sell their crunch box version 2? I prefer that tone but can’t find it
@rcleon1431 Жыл бұрын
This the same as the mi audio tube zone?
@BrettKingman Жыл бұрын
No. The Tube Zone is more saggy rectifier - quite brutal when gained up. The Crunch Box is more tighter Marshall. Sort of hot hotrodded JCM800.
@giancarlopaolini75296 жыл бұрын
I'll have to try it in front of my Kemper ... it should work well there too.
@eurofeel4 жыл бұрын
I wonder how this one compare to suhr eclipse...
@soundknight6 жыл бұрын
This sounds great but seeing the knob adjustments has made me think, what if you had a pre-programmed circuit with a more open edgy sound down to left with less gain, then a max compressed high drive and only slightly louder all the way to the right blended signal using just one knob? And of course a booster stomp switch attached with boost level. And an app to control the inside tone shaping?
@BrettKingman6 жыл бұрын
Then you'd be wanting a digitally controlled Super Crunch Box. Which I'm sure Michael could build for you. :D

Where can i order that pedal?
@toddyeates2716 жыл бұрын
thank you sir! been waiting for this. please do a review of the jhs AT andy timmons drive pedal. I think you would like it!
@tollan236 жыл бұрын
I've owned that JHS pedal and the MI Audio super crunch box V3 slays it, at least in my rig. I find those JHS AT to be rather boxy and compressed. Lots of people like the AT but I sold mine.
@toddyeates2716 жыл бұрын
thank for the info,the jhs at works great with my clean channel on boogie mark v but im always interested in other good choices. are these pedals very fizzy? i know the jhs AT drive is not and i like non fizzy tones for classic to hard rock. and the 100 watt setting on jhs is not compressed,very little and more clean and open sounding.not into tinny fizzy tones. the jhs is fat. i have to say the crunchbox looks great for reasonable price.
@tollan236 жыл бұрын
It can be a little fizzy sometimes depending on the amp, but just tweak a few knobs and the fizz goes away. I didn't really like the 100w setting on the AT either. I don't know, I just didn't bond with it although it's a perfectly good pedal... I just way prefer the crunch box v3 :)
@jsapi234 жыл бұрын
I have both, the AT has that vowel vibe going on with leads, however the SCB has the grit, sizzle and push. Both have their merits. The AT sounds a bit softer if that’s the right word.
@nlmal46 жыл бұрын

Wonderful playing as usual Brett but gotta disagree with you on the looks of the pedal, I think it's beautiful! Brings back memories of a certain favorite breakfast cereal....it was so hard choosing between this and the Friedman BE-OD, guess I need em both...sigh.

@frankardos42116 жыл бұрын
OK Brad. I hope you can help me. I pray all is well with you and your adorable family my friend. Just lovely I must say. Anyway... I probably have tried most of the "conventional" ways to run a stereo rig but how might you do it? I have all kinds of amps and stereo fx pedals etc... but also I have that awesome Empress buffer plus stereo pedal as well. I go into a Laney(that's right dude!) irt studio and use the fx loop as normal but want to incorporate the best way to send the good stuff to another amp. Just using the other output of my reverb(GFI Systems) into the 2nd amps return seems "ok" but thought I'd ask you if you knew of a better way. I know there's preamps with stereo fx loops yada yada but hope you could help. Love your tone and vids mate. Truly, and all the best. Fran

@pauloakes83722 жыл бұрын
I know you posted this two years ago but here's why: JHS copied this pedal and made it the Angry Charlie. I opened the Crunch Box to put a battery in, and printed on the circuit board is "still angry, charlie" MI Effects knows they got ripped off
