I watch a lot of KZbin guitar lessons from probably ten instructors. But yours are the only lessons where I HAVE to pick up a guitar and play along. I can't hardly stand to watch without one. I think that says something really good about what you're doing. Keep it up!

I visit a few on-line guitar dudes, but you me old mate are by far the most teacheriffic. It's like a trove of understanding and coolness you are leaving on your doorstep for anyone to grab. Thank you, thank you, thank you and , as you would say, "you are awesome' :-) (but don't let it go to your head because that could spoil a very good thing.) Thanks Brett.

Yay - I've looked at your stuff a few times - irony is that I learn best when I take a just a little idea, learn it and then spend time letting it seep into my playing so it becomes a part of what I do, rather than "here comes the new thing" - your free vids are absolutely just right for me. Heck, I should buy something just as a way to pay you something for what you already gave to me.

Cool vid Brett. Are using the CAGED shapes to 'see' the chords, or do you have all the notes of the fretboard memorized to the point in which you can simply pick the tonic, 3rd & 5th, etc? One of the most difficult things, for me, has been memorizing all the notes. There are easy formula/shapes to "figure" them out, but I would imagine being able to see them instantly would be so helpful. Thanks.
@BrettPapa7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I use the CAGED system all the time. It's been the most helpful thing I have ever been shown on guitar. I am still figuring out which notes are the root, 3rd, or 5th haha!
@northof50now7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brett. Side note-- can you tell me if Fred [Divided by 13] makes an amp that sounds like a Tweed-Twin? Here on the east coast [NY/Philly], finding any of his amps is tremendously difficult to hear them myself. Thanks for your help.
@rodwoolley15497 жыл бұрын
Someone advised me that you really need to know the notes at each fret for the fifth and sixth strings so you know which CAGED chord you are playing, but I don't think you need to know which notes are the root, third and fifth because you just sort of automatically play what sounds good, and because all of the chord notes sound good if you match the chord in your solo to the chord in the backing track (or that would be in the backing track if there was one!).

OK brother I have been subscribing for a long time in seriously enjoy your playing and appreciate what you do. Are you switching keys per given chord, like E pentatonic over the E, A pentatonic over A, etc., or just staying in E but hitting the chord tones for each chord, using whatever position of E your in? I know you mix M and mi, but those half step bends are not just pentatonic notes, so are you visualizing the whole M or mi scale or do you just have a few spots you use for tasty half step bends on certain chord positions? I hope I explained clearly - it's not always easy to do with music.
