Very well made video! No time wasted, Informative & easy to understand !!! I have a similar basement that I intend to improve in much the same way as your good self sir so found this very helpful & inspirational!! I have been told by my doctor to consider alternatives to my current employment as a back injury has made it necessary to re-adjust my options for earning a living & this could be one solution. Many thanks!!!

Looking good. About to convert a small space into a shop and will be using some of your ideas. One thing i noticed...sump pump shouldn't be installed on a GFCI. I understand wanting to protect yourself but if it trips you can have a flood on your hands. Been an electrician for 20+ years and we never use GFCI on sumps. Have always used a single receptacle. It satisfies code everywhere i have worked. Obviously, if you want to work on the sump pump or pull it up while submerged you should unplug it first.

The brick partition, i can guarentee it used to be a fireplace chimney. The hole thats in it, you could get away with a single wall stove pipe on a stove/furnace/heater, going thru there without worry. Im actually a little jealous of that
@Bretts_Builds5 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about doing something like that but I found out the chimney doesn't actually go anywhere. They broke the top off in the attic and roofed over it.

Looks great! But word to the wise, the polly floor is going to have culturs living under it that will result in an oder with in a year or so. The product is not made for below grade, or even on grede. You could nail sleapers on the concrete, fallowd 6 mil plastic 3/4 ply, followed by your fooring. Alternatively, you could do a self-leveling product made by Ardex that's made to be walked on as a finished floor. I'm not sure if that can go in the basement though, but it should be fine because they're allowed to breathe.

The proper way to install that would have been to have been some form of vapor barrier, then insulate and as John said, green side out. It’s less the paper and more what formula the chalkboard contains. The color is to indicate purpose. Also, those joints are going to crack. They needed tape, which the other side was shaped to contain.... great makeover! Wouldn’t recognize it!
@a.rsneaks19535 жыл бұрын
@@Bretts_Builds colour is to indicate what the board is Fire,sound,moisture and so on.It's not a Visqueen nor moisture repellent. Colour side out is the way it should have been done. As John said its backwards
