Many coffee drinkers like to let the flavor develop as the coffee cools. Tasting the coffee after cooling is actually a key part of the roast development process!

I have been getting dry grounds and under extraction. I finally put a french press screen on top of grounds so the shower head is even more spread out, and that was better. I'll try the rotate and/or remove thermal carafe during bloom, but kind of disappointed as i bought this to make good coffee without intervention...

Simpler than rotating the brew chamber, I don't insert the thermos until bloom time ends. Your grounds will be perfectly saturated. That's assuming that you're using custom settings. I'm not sure if Gold Standard includes a bloom time.

In a standard coffee maker, all of the water you put in gets used up. In this, can you set the water amount and then have water left over? In other words, can I just keep the water topped up and not worry about how much is in the tank? Also, can I just put any thermal travel mug underneath instead of the thermal carafe and have reasonable tasting coffee even in a smaller amount right into the travel mug (like about 750 ml)?
@doctormoobbc
@doctormoobbc Жыл бұрын
No it will use up the entire amount in the reservoir. Water can go bad (as far as for brewing coffee) pretty fast when just sitting in a plastic container, so I think it's a good choice. On your other question, yes you can brew into a mug of your choice instead of the carafe, but ONLY on single cup mode which I think maxes out at 500ml. You might be able to bypass this by using "pourover" mode.

@b1_ferg
@b1_ferg 3 жыл бұрын
Your descaling schedule will vary based upon your local water hardness level. The harder your water is, the more frequently you will need to descale. To find out what your water hardness is, every Precision Brewer comes with a water hardness test strip. All of this and more is detailed in the supplied manual when purchasing the Beeville Precision Brewer.

hello, thanks for this interesting video. Is it possible that there are different versions of the machine on the market? Of course, I wanted to check the filter setting immediately, but found that this setting does not even exist on my machine. I also noticed something else: I already have the second machine of this type because the first one was defective. i almost exclusively use the gold function. the first started a blooming phase shortly after the start and this is also shown on the display. the second doesn't do that. i have the feeling that my second machine is an older model with different functions and different software. is that possible? does anyone have any information? i don't want to have received an overhauled model of such an expensive machine. I have the version with a thermos. thanks for your answers.
@matelot2001
@matelot2001 3 жыл бұрын
All I can say is that I had a similar issue. The machine, when in Gold mode, would only bloom when in single cup water levels... over that, it wouldn’t bloom. I swapped it out for a replacement and it still does the same... no bloom on Gold if anymore than one cup. I now have started to use MyBrew settings. Not ideal, for the price I would expect the machine to bloom ever batch, but wondering if this is a design thing.

@@matelot2001 yes, I only figured it out because the machine I had before did just that. and don't want my machine to have the option to select a filter. I don't know whether the previous machine had that. I'm interested in whether there are different versions.

Trying to decide between thermal or glass and I’m not sure your mention of adding hot water before brewing makes sense if everything else is automated after set up. Does the glass model pre heat the glass carafe prior to the coffee dripping in?
@sighiguess
@sighiguess 3 жыл бұрын
yeah if you want the hottest coffee possible then the metal carafe won't work with the auto start feature. i have never used a metal carafe before but i hear all the coffee equipment ppl talking about the preheating the metal carafe. i wonder if it actually makes a difference. which model did u end up getting?
@ourbeeshoneycom
@ourbeeshoneycom 3 жыл бұрын
@@sighiguess most people dont like the glass craft, becuse it keeps heating the coffee after its brewed which from what ive looked into changes the flavor. Ive never preheated my current coffee maker metal craft and it does a great job at retaining heat, any hoter would be to hot.
@b1_ferg
@b1_ferg 3 жыл бұрын
So I just bought the Precision Brewer. Honestly, unless you like your coffee the hottest it can be, preheating the carafe is not needed. I add milk in my coffee which also takes away some heat, but it was still thoroughly enjoyable and plenty hot for my liking. That being said, I put my coffee into a Yeti thermos that I take to work, so I maintain the temperature after mixing in milk, but I nurse my coffee throughout the day. If you drink yours out of a mug and you drink it quickly, within reason of course, than you'll never have to think twice about preheating the carafe. I've seen a fair amount of complaints regarding this Brewer not brewing hot enough. It's safe to ignore them in my opinion. Also, one thing I didn't think about is that you cannot see the volume you are pouring out with the thermal carafe. I split coffee with my girlfriend. You can adapt, but it's something to keep in mind. I would still rather the thermal carafe over the hotplate as my gf wakes up an hour after me and the coffee is kept perfectly hot for her as well without destroying the flavour. My last Brewer, I'd take the glass pot off the hotplate, set it aside, and she would have to reheat hers in the microwave. Not ideal. Anyways, I hope my experience helps.
@feesh6980
@feesh6980 2 жыл бұрын
@@b1_ferg Interesting. I preheat my 20 oz Yeti, and brew right into that. I measured the temp of the water right after the brew cycle this morning and it was 165º. I then add cream to my coffee and it's too cool for me. I like it hotter. Just switched to this machine two days ago from French Press and while this is a far superior taste, my thermal preheated french press carafe made a much hotter cup of coffee. I'm in search of answers, dang it! I can't believe it drops from 196-206º to 165 that quickly during the brew cycle. Still going to search. I use the "gold" setting. I may need to play with this. :)

I just used my precision brewer for the first time so I'm pretty new to this, but how do you know the exact moment the blooming ends? When I started the brew, I wasn't really in grasp of what was going on (when blooming started and when it ended, etc) other than what the screen was telling me.
@Mrsp8472
@Mrsp8472 Жыл бұрын
@@omerats96 Bloom time starts when hot water is first added to the coffee. I haven't looked at the timer, but you can hear when it starts. After the water has been added, it simply sits there for the length of the bloom that you set, giving you an end point. Most coffee people will tell you that this step is simply to get the grounds wet so that water makes good contact with the coffee bed before it drips through. You don't particularly need a long time for this, but depending on how much gas is released from the coffee (due to a darker roast, for example), getting all the grounds wet could take longer. I advocate for a stir, but you'll have to keep track of the time that passes in your head (or watch the timer) so that you get the basket in before the rest of the water starts to flow.
@Mrsp8472

@@omerats96 Upon using it again (I've been doing pour-overs), there is no timer. I would just do a countdown in your head from what you set in the settings for bloom.
