Brew Hacks: Drilling a hole in stainless for a bulkhead fitting

Hi, thanks for posting. Would a step bit work to expand a preexisting hole in a kettle? I have an ss brewtech kettle that has a hole for a ball valve but I want to expand it so I can put a weldless tri clover bulkhead and butterfly valve. I've never used a step bit before and I'm worried i might wreck my kettle! Thanks again
