These new mirror polished stainless steel uni tanks are the highest quality home brew uni tanks we have ever seen. They the mirror finish internally make them easy to clean and are VERY sanitary. They have loads off TC ports so you can fit pretty much every home brew fermentation gadget you can think of.
The 8inc TC port at the top makes it easy to hold pressure so you can carbonate your beer, wine or cider using pressurized fermentations. If you are looking for a well designed, pressure rated fermentation vessel that has all the bells and whistles then look no further. This BrewBuilt masterpiece is definitely the way to go.

Any idea on release dates for the controller? Also can you use it minus the heating element? I rarely use heating, only when I am making a saison or using a kveik yeast. Otherwise very interested in trying 3 units.

Definitely interested as a upgrade from using my stainless bucket fermenter. Still saving up for one and a glycol system
@KegLand

If you are strapped for cash then I would go for an all rounder or FermZilla tri-conical. These are budget friendly and still a big step up from a bucket fermenter. So this is your best option while you save up for a BrewBuilt unit.

I definitely agree on the 8in port instead of the clamp, after a year using my spike conical it the threads loosen up a bit and the clamp definelty helps with the leaking of air even if it’s well libricated with cip lube.
@KegLand
@KegLand Ай бұрын
Yes it's strange how many people thing they want the larger opening and it's only once you have used the large lid clamp that you start to realize the design constraints.
@MAR108
@MAR108 Ай бұрын
@@KegLand I actually didn’t think about that lol, the thing was that when I purchased it, spike was the cheapest option. I’m glad allot more manufacturers are opting in on the 8” opening instead I genuinely think that it helps maintain pressure more effectively.

Great walk-through! I really don't understand the infatuation with 1.5" TC ports. A 1.5" TC port is overkill for an analog pressure gauge, safety PRV, blow-off pipe, spunding valve, thermowell, sample valve, glycol port, ... The X3 lid is so crowded. A 1.5" TC port is too small for a hop drop. The hop drop should be on an 8" to 3" or 8" to 4" adapter cap. There was plenty of real estate on the X3 lid for the 8" TC main port and four smaller TC ports. Interesting decision to forgo a racking valve. I like that you followed Brewtools lead with the welded lid, 8" TC main lid port, glycol jacket and 2" TC cone port to accept a heating element. With the X4, take a look at the Brewtools F-series lid ports.

Love the technical rundown and the explanations of the whys and hows of the solutions. Please please please, make the new controller work with the current g20. I bought mine last week. Maybe something you don’t recommend but what would be your advice on daisy chaining from the g20. Let’s say I am doing a split batch into two fermzilla, better to put the temp twisters in series or in parallel with a T connector for example. I know the probe will only be able to measure from one fermenter but with the same yeast and the two fermenters being so close to each other, the difference in temperature should not be that big.
@KegLand
@KegLand Ай бұрын
Yes the new glycol controller will still be backward compatible and work with the older G20 and G40 models. That is not an issue at all.

A Brewbuilt X2 model with that side heater TC port would make an excellent all in one brewery/fermenter kit.
@KegLand
@KegLand Ай бұрын
You would still have to mash the grains somehow but you are right. If we make a more powerful 2" TC element then you could boil inside the fermenter which would be pretty cool. Do you think many customers would want to see this solution?
@NathanKraemer
@NathanKraemer Ай бұрын
Hey @BrewBuilt , for the X4 put a 2" TC on the roof of the tank for dry hopping.
@KegLand
@KegLand Ай бұрын
this subject certainly did come up during the design process but It's really not an issue with the 1.5" TC as the concentric 1.5" to 2" TC reducers are quite cheap. Also we were really running out of space on the top of the unitank so we didn't really have a lot of options in that respect.

Really looking forward to getting this one. Suggestion: if you're only going to have the one controller on the glycol unit itself, is there a way to move it to the front? If you have the unit with the back facing a wall you can't see or easily change the temp. Mine isn't facing a wall but where I've had to place it it's still really hard to get myself in a position where I can read it. The power switch being on the front could be good too.
@KegLand
@KegLand Ай бұрын
Yes absolutely. The glycol controller can be put anywhere. So for sure you can put it on the front of the fermenter no problem.
@MrBrianmuz
@MrBrianmuz 18 күн бұрын
@@KegLand Sorry. I meant the power and temp control of the back of the glycol reserviour itself. It's right at the back of the unit. If you have the unit against a wall then it's really hard to get to the power button or adjust the glycol temp. If you're re-designing the thing and it's not too hard put all the controls and power on the front.

Instead of running glycol through the jacketed tank, can hot water run through it to heat the tank? I make mead and I am looking to figure out a way to heat the mead up to 140F in order to pasteurize it. Once pasteurized, then I can back sweeten if needed. I am trying to figure out a way to pasteurize in a fermenter.

If the 2" blocks up, just pump CO2 thorugh it. The only reson to use these massive fermenters is to reduce sediment in bottles so you should have CO2 ready.
@KegLand
@KegLand 2 ай бұрын
Yes that is a fair point. I would agree that if you are pushing stuff down and out via the dump valve the CO2 works well to push the blockage through the dump valve. With that said if you are dry hopping upwards this trick doesn't work as gas just passes through the hops.
