Homebrewer of 5 years or so here. Love the videos. Thanks for making them entertaining and thanks for being honest about being lazy with certain things. Makes me feel better about myself 😅

Great video...now to add a Munich III side by side hah! I like using Munich II personally for those toffee notes. My best guess on the low OG cause is the sparge method. You essentially doused the grains vs. rinsed them slowly. I would bet that a lot of residual sugars were left on/in the grains given the flooding of water vs. gentle rinsing. Outside of that if your hydrometer sample was still warm or hot it definitely could have given a false reading as it would need temp correction.

Low effeciency could be from that mash ph? 5.5/5.6 is usually the sweet spot for conversion
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
I usually target around 5.4 and I think Brad likes it a bit lower around 5.2-5.3. I'm not sure what the mash ph was for this brew but it would certainly be somewhere in the 5.2-5.5ish range. Cheers

Hey guys, what's the benefit of the camlock thermometer? Are you getting better temp readings VS the BZ probe?
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
We like using the inline thermometer so that we can compare the reading on the brewzilla to a known accurate thermometer. Cheers

Sir- there's no way Justin would allow you to wear that shirt oat and aboat. I think that would be instant jail time- sharing a cell with that polish Calgarian pastor for breaking COVID protocol!! Not to drop names, but the Clawha**er kettles got NOTHIN on these Brewzilla "feet". Genius. Great video. You got a new subscriber. My wife's whole family lives just oatside of Saskatoon, so this was a feel good brew.

How near is the temperature on your gauge adaption to the reading on-the brewzilla temperature?
@graintoglass4 ай бұрын
It's within 3 degrees either way. Still trying to nail the calibration on the Brewzilla.

You meant to say Grams when instead of ounces in regards to the Salts Measurements?
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
Ya Brad meant grams. That's why it's a FuF video :P

Who does # 2 work for?
@graintoglass11 ай бұрын
We usually use munich 1 for lighter beers like IPA or pale ales and munich 2 in darker beers like porters, brown ales and stouts. Cheers

Hello my f#cked up friends. great vid as usual. I need me one of those camlock temperature thingy's. you sell it or can tell me the parts you sexy folks? I'm a newb so I don't know the sizings. Another Q, I have an exchillerator that I am going to use with my gen 4 35L. I was HOPING the integrated brewzilla pump would be powerful enough to push through the exchillerator and get back up above the top of the gen4.... the reason you are using another pump telling me it would be a failure?
@graintoglass Жыл бұрын
We needed to use another pump because Brad had the giant 1bbl Blichmann plate chiller hooked up. I think if your chillers is 25 feet it should work but I don't have an Exchillerator to test. We do sell the inline camlock thermometers. Cheers
