That is NOT Brexiting at all but Remaining, ie deceitfully promising to respect the result of the referendum whilst betraying the country and handing us over to be a colony under the control of unelected foreigners who wish to destroy the United Kingdom. Men as putrid as the Anglophobic Guy Verhofstadt, for example. Brexiting will restore sovereignty and liberty to the UK and make her freer and more prosperous than ever. No wonder the EUSSR (and Macron in particular!) so hate Brexit. All dictators and petty tyrants hate freedom and especially giving it to the people whom they despise. Bring on No Deal BREXIT NOW!

Ok, I am an italian living in New Zealand. I have lived in London for 5 years until 2013 and don’t have any plans to go back to UK or Italy, so I’m not going to be directly affected by brexit, but I’d like to share my opinion. I am not fit to say if UK outside the EU could do better or worse than now but what I can say is that the whole thing looks very immature and badly dealt with. Firstly a government cannot ask the country a binary opinion like “in or out” without making absolutely sure people really understand what they are talking about, because people opinions won’t make ANY sense otherwise. The EU is an intricate organism grown up over more than 40years so one needs to study first to be fit to make such a call. Second: people have expressed an OPINION. Slightly over half the country said “we want out”. At that point a responsible and loving government would have said: “ok, we’ll now study a way and make plans for it, then we’ll go”. This government instead invoked article 50 without a plan! That to me looks like complete lack of responsibility, spine and competence. Now, I am very sorry to say this, but brexiteers insisting to leave in this conditions are just like teens stomping their feet cause they want their toy. They HAVE to consider that brexit, should it happen, would need to be for the good of the majority the country immediately! Only that way the remainers would be happy and the country would do well as a whole. If brexit happens in a chaotic unplanned way, it is only logic that people will suffer and it will be very hard to demonstrate that brexit was a good idea. Thirdly: I believe that UK has the power to steer the EU to do better and that the government should say: hey EU, we need to sit and work together to deliver a better world to the future generations and be constructive and positive about it, but again, if they want out they should do it in an elegant, carefully planned way. Finally: the UK people are very confused as to why they have the problems they have and the politicians are using the EU as a distraction from the real troubles. It is not the EU causing the issues, but the politicians with their Short sighted way of administering the country internally. My few cents.

As a EU resident in UK, I found that holding an UK exit referendum for party purposes was a disgrace: none of the two sides campaigned with true facts, and none showed capacity to convinced for a "yes" or a "no" vote. The result came as a slap in my face: after living in the UK for 12 years, overnight I became a bargaining chip for the UK government, and a "negotiable immigrant". The legacy of David Cameron will leave a disaster behind, and Theresa May is not the leader needed at this moment (neither Jeremy Corbin). Unfortunately, these negotiations should be led by professionals and by experts, but there is none of these qualities in the current government, neither in the EU. The EU wants to set a standard of "see what can happen to you if you try to leave the EU", and the UK government does not want to admit that having the referendum was a mistake, and applying its result a nearly impossible task without consensus.

One could also argue that for a country to give away control over it's laws, trading policy and immigration, i.e. to cease to be an independent country, should require more than a simple majority.
@onezerooneseven
@onezerooneseven 5 жыл бұрын
@@tonyblighe5696 We never gave up control, we are part of the EU as much as any other country, and helped shape it. We have vetoes, we have the ability to deport EU immigrants if they don't find work in 3 months. Most of those who are born overseas in the UK are from outside of the EU anyway. The fact is geography matters when it comes to trade, and it's normal whoever we trade with to agree on rules. In fact outside of the EU we are smaller, so are in a weaker position to negotiate deals to our benefit. Leaving gives us less control, not more. And yes we're an independent country, one which shapes the EU, and inputs to all these rules/laws etc. And no, it's the desire to change the status quo that should be proven. It's absurd to think the 37% all voted for the same thing. At least Remain voters knew what they were voting for, Leave would never have won if they outlined what was really possible

@@onezerooneseven I respect your opinion. What I wonder is how countries like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore (all with smaller GDP than the UK) can get along just fine without being part of a larger political and economic bloc. I would argue that a vote to remain would not be a vote for the status quo. The EU is constantly moving towards further integration. I support that, the Eurozone must become one country with central tax and spend if it is to survive. This would instantly solve the debt problems of the southern states and their horrific levels of unemployment and negative growth. I am sure you will agree that full integration will never be accepted by the people of the UK. With us, and perhaps Denmark (which opted to keep its own currency) out of the way they have a chance to finish the European project, and I genuinely wish them luck.

Tom, as an Italian, I perfectly understand the vote of "protest" (certainly conditioned and supported by fragile illusions and wrong but "interested" political evaluations) expressed by the British people: logic and consequent reaction to the ineffectiveness (and too often incompetence) of European bureaucrats, so attentive to satisfy, mainly, the interests of the power and financial lobbies and so far from its people needs and real life. I think, therefore, that it is right and, above all, I HOPE that it will be offered to you all, democratically, a second chance to express yourself, more consciously, on Brexit. Although my Country has, more recently than ever before, very often the finger pointing at and is the subject of skillful "blackmail", I still believe in a true Europe, united, really cohesive and strong for the wellbeing, the economic, civil and cultural growth of all its citizens and I think that all of US together can give new life to this dream. Here is my opinion and thanks in advance for your attention in reading it. Have a nice weekend 🙋

However, if the British people want to leave the EU, they are absolutely free to do it, stay mellow: no one will hold you against your will. The thing that I can't understand is why what would seem to be, at this moment, a minority of people who really wants to achieve this result (Brexit) has the right to decide for a probable current majority of those who would rather remain : in your part is called DEMOCRACY this? Why are you 'Brexiteers' so afraid to face a second referendum, a DIRECT expression of the people will? Among other things, I remind you, that it would be a referendum without BINDING results for the UK Parliament that can, constitutionally, decide in the end how it believes BEST for the GOOD of your Country ..... did you know? They don't want a hard Brexit, they don't want the backstop-brexit and they don't want a no-deal Brexit. But what do they want? What do British/UK people want? Why don't they withdraw from Brexit to discuss their way out of the EU and trigger Article 50 in another two years or so? What about a second referendum which allows British/UK people to vote on the five options at this stage: - no-deal - backstop - hard - Norwegian approach - no Bexit? The real dumb part is it will not affect immigration whatsoever. The brexit voters always say EU citizens are welfare sponges but there's an EU law saying if they don't get work in 3 months they can be removed to their homeland. They never are. 2. They also complain about immigrants from Africa and the middle East which the British government WILLINGLY ACCEPT. Look at Poland... They don't want these immigrants so they don't accept them. Simple as that but the British government do. Basically brexit is all about British people blaming the EU for the failings of their own government and the only good thing that will come from it will be they can no longer do that and they will see their own government's failings.... Sadly though a large portion of them will blame Global conspiracies, Rothschilds, Soros and whoever or whatever else they can instead of accepting some responsibility. I guarantee in 20 years time that 48% remain will become retroactively 100% remain as people will say "this country went to hell when we left EU but don't blame me, i voted remain

To be true: I feel like you divorced me and I don‘t even know why. I was born and raised in the region of Hanover in Germany which means actually we have been part of the same country during the personal union, so for nearly 150 years. This part of our common history is still very present in Hanover and we always felt very connected with the UK. It‘s hard to understand how it could come so far and how it was possible that all this hate and reservations grew within the UK.

This video has helped me to understand it so much more. I’ve honestly tried already to wrap my head around what it all means but it was so frustrating so, you really nailed it on the head and now I know. Now that I have a clearer image, Im personally in favour for a second referendum because I can vote now and at least then I had my “say” if you will.

Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, Africa. Hello Tom. I'm also a teacher of languages. I follow you on here, and am never disappointed, except by the tiny detail of your here in the description following the trend to wrongly spell the very useful word "okay" (or the abbreviations O.K., which have really long since transformed into a proper word, acting as an adjective, a noun, a verb, and other ever-increasing functions) as if it rhymes with "wok". Please help me stop this horrible trend, which seeks to make English and by extension practically all languages even less phonetic. Just a thought. Keep up the excellent work, Tom. Best wishes, Patchy.

Love your explanations. I would hate going back to the times when driving into Britain (from Sweden) I would have to carry a ginormeous sheaf of expensive green documents detailing all my stuff that I would need to go on with my business for a mere fortnight or so in the UK, and promising that I were to still keep those things than when returning, and the custom officers asking if I somehow somewhere had sufficient means for surviving a couple of days in Britain.

Brave man! ... the referendum split the country, mostly it's best not to talk about it with family or friends if you want calm. Already there are signs of disquiet regarding the potential reneging on the Good Friday Agreement, no one wants that... personally I would like another referendum now we know what the real choices are (also young people who couldn't vote last time will have a say). I don't like close votes as they have potential for trouble... the referendum was flawed and Cameron should answer for that.

Heyyy chief dreamer, you amazing human being, I hope that you are doing well. 💚 Here are my thoughts, I guess there should be another referendum as many youngsters couldn't vote in June 2016 and now can. David Cameron completely lost his referendum, we just need to be strong and to believe that everything will turn out just fine. 🌸

emmmm that's not quite true!! They said that only if the UK complies with the EU's long list of demands. In fact the EU rejected the UK's offer on citizens rights as Donald Tusk (one of the five presidents) said it was "below our expectations" and Jean-Claude Juncker (another of the five presidents) said "it is a first step, but this step is not sufficient". The EU want to trap the UK into being still under the rulings of the European Court of Justice(and not just citizens rights issues). The UK is leaving the EU, why would they agree to being under the ECJ's and ultimately the EU's jurisdiction and laws/rules. Source : kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZO7YaqGmbd-Y8U

@@thedogsdiddies8421: The EU to re reciprocate in a legally binding way the commitment of the UK needs to be legally binding. And it is legally binding it surely can be crosschecked by the ECJ. However, it seems the UK and the EU have informally agreed to contingency measures to ensure the residence status. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpvRn3ucfN2ApM0 However, as far as I can see the way the UK implements the residence status of EU citizens seems rather awkward. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpWunJ-qpJqhpKc

I’m a British subject living my entire life abroad. I voted, in 2016, for the UK to remain an integral part of the EU. ‘BREXIT’ has, in my view, destabilized the civil discourse and economic power of the region, nearly as much as ‘TRUMP’ and ‘M.A.G.A.’ have destabilized North America.
