Bosworth would have been a very good NFL linebacker if he would have been healthy. There are a lot of negative comments about him here, but by people who just didn't like him, weather they knew anything or not. He played very well for the Seahawks, I know, I was there. He certainly had the talent, but not the shoulders. A real shame.

seattwa You are right. I feel because people expected him to live up to the image he created while in college. I'm not sure any human could of stopped Bo Jackson with a full head of steam. Bo was superhuman and Boz was just an above average LB in the pros. He was quick to the ball and played with passion. He was horrible in pass coverage but didn't last long enough for him to improve. People need to understand it's difficult to play at a high level with a minor injury let alone no shoulders.

I agree. I still don't know what anyone saw that was so special about that Bo Jackson play. He did NOT run Boz over, and it was a very ordinary looking play. The reason I don't break down his acting skills is because I consider this an NFL site. I just try to talk about the real history of the NFL, and I was basically sticking up for Bosworth and his talents and explain what really happened with his career. When I do so, it bores lots of people while upsetting others, like 1985 Bear worshippers

I was an Oiler fan and loved the hell out of this game. Boz was a beast and wrote about this specific game in his book. Loved going up against Alonzo Highsmith, who did very little in his career in Houston.

The only 2-time Recipient of the Butkus Award (1985 and 1986) Boz was the nation’s top LB & left an indelible mark on college football during his All-American career at Oklahoma. "The Boz" becomes the 21st Sooner to enter the College Football Hall of Fame. A consensus First Team All-American in 1985 and 1986, Bosworth led Oklahoma to the 1985 National Championship." A first round draftt pick who started and played with a Bad shoulder that forced him to an early retirement. Made the 1987 All Rookie Team as LB, and was Defensive player of the week during the same year. . "Bosworth would play in 12 games as a rookie (missing 4 games because of the 1987 players strike), finishing 3rd on the team with 4 sacks and Making 97 Tackles. His best showing came when he returned a fumble 38 yards and recovered another to help the Seahawks to a 34-21 win over the Chicago Bears. In 1988, Bosworth was Seattle's leading tackler with 66 when a left shoulder injury cost him 7 games. required surgery.' Idiots mumbling the BS you hear on j ew run espn about 'Bust" and being run over.. That infamous hit, Boz allowed a 2 yard Bo Jackson run, solo tackle that had Boz offguard. Still pretty damn impressive.

People who played sports know how difficult it is to play at a high level but even more difficult to play hurt. Bosworth was not the same player we all saw in college. What made Bosworth so special was his speed and instincts. He shoulders were done and fragile by the time Bosworth got drafted so he wasn't the same player. He still had the speed but couldn't deliver the blow necessary to be a great tackler.

You can measure a man's skill and heart by the amount of haters that make negative comments.Boz was a bad ass.more than that he was a man.he. took all the heat for every college player that ever used steroids.rather than snitch and cry and tell on everyone,he allowed the buck to stop with him.sure maybe later on he may have let the cat out of the bag.however when the heat was hot it took the blame and let a large number of the hook.i respect the Box.i hope he worked things out with his dad.take care Mr Brian Bozworth

Sometime Boz went for the huge hit every play, no pro football player can keep that up.Running backs are the same, the ones that put they're heads down and dig for every yard, don't seem to last long, unless they're big backs. But even big backs have short careers. Bosworth had 3 shoulder surgeries from the way he played. 100% every play.

Bosworth had size, speed, strength, & smarts. He showed excellent feet & a great burst. He could canvas the field, take good angles, was hard to cut off on outside plays & could cover. He could stuff the one-on-one block & was a punishing tackler. But he tended to overrate his strength & tried to overrun everyone. Blockers were considerably bigger in the NFL than they were at Kansas State. Is that what happened to his left shoulder? Maybe he should have been an outside LB, not inside.

Brian Bosworth was a really good football player. His biggest issue was developing his character "The Boz" and not developing his ability to play linebacker as Brian Bosworth to his potential Hall of Fame level. That's about all...
