Dave Brown introduces tape of Shawn Michaels versus Jeff Jarrett for the WWF's Intercontinental Heavyweight title at the Mid-South Coliseum in which Brian Christopher gets involved. When Shawn Michaels accidentally super kicks the referee, Jeff slaps him in the sleeper. Suddenly, Brian Christopher runs in and comes off the top rope with a chain to nail Jeff, but Jeff is ready for it and takes the chain from Brian and clears him from the ring. When Shawn Michaels recovers, Jeff busts him with the chain. Oops, disqualified.
Has Brian Christopher gone too far this time? Probably so. But why did Jeff Jarrett, being the face, decide to use the chain? (Answer: So if they decide to develop the story and want to use the tape back in New York, roles can easily be reversed; Jeff will appear to be the heel and Shawn the face. Duh. Hello?)
After the recap of the match, Jeff Jarrett enters the studio and gives the first believable interview I believe I've ever seen him do. Seriously. He screws up every promo! This time though, he absolutely nailed it. Good one, Jeff.

WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT! So, Brian gets decked with the chain. DIES! SHawn gets decked with the chain. DIES! And in less than 60 seconds, Brian's back in, decks Jarrett and makes off like NOTHING happened? Jeez.

I know this was like cross promotion between USWA and at the time WWF, but it benefited, the USWA more. Surprised Vince did this, as far as ratings, Memphis was no threat.

I would think they would work something with Lawler... I mean they have the Vince McMahon Heel run in Memphis, you would think they would make a WWE Documentary on Vince as a heel and include footage from it

I don't know if I completely agree with your assessment of the events. Shawn was the top heel in 1993 and at that point, it was unlikely that he would turn face...and where's the DQ?

I can't believe how empty the MS Colesium is for such a big match.... I guess it really shows how down business was in 1993. I mean did business pick up when Vinny Mac showed up to Memphis?

If New York would use this tape, it would have to have been in 1995 during the 'Double J' years (the earliest time that Shawn was a face and Jeff was heel). However, they would never use it in the context of that feud because the the look of both wrestlers would be wrong ( in 1995 HBK was wearing tights with "Heartbreak Kid" on them and Double J would never wear ring attire like that. Just throwing that out for consideration.

Why wwf superstars go to uswa to wrestle
@christophernicholson20
@christophernicholson20 Жыл бұрын
Because Vince McMahon was trying to negotiate a deal with Memphis wrestling and Jerry Lawler at the time was doing color commentary on WWE Raw at the time that's why the majority of the wrestlers started here in Memphis and went to the WWF. That's why if you notice guys like Flex Kavana (The Rock) Brian Christopher (Grandmaster Sexay) Kurt Angle and other wrestlers got started here in Memphis this was sort of like a independent wrestling territory

If you work for another company as a champ when you leave the company holding the belt still it's yours when you win a belt you have to put money down on it like $20, 000 so it's yours until you give it back and get your money back
