This song actually has a really comforting melancholy to it. Like, the feeling of the song is sad, but not in a tragic way. It's more the kind of sadness that comes a from returning to normal after a really good time; a sadness in comparison.
@cactus_juice32173 жыл бұрын
I think of it as the opposite; it feels to me a lot more like finally emerging from the pits of depression. Not in a hopeful way, mind you, but in a more "oh shit, I'm okay???? Damn" kinda way, if that makes any sense.
@PhilfreezeCH3 жыл бұрын
A melancholic peacefulness maybe?
@Queer_Nerd_For_Human_Justice Жыл бұрын
@@cactus_juice3217 Well I think you're BOTH right! It's about having high hopes that have left you in despair, then finally coming to a stable middle ground ready to start afresh. Which is of course the journey the protagonist takes in the series! I can't really think of a kind way to put it but it feels like "baby's first depression", that dealing with depression is new and he hasn't learned how it works yet, and it feels like it'll never end, so there's an element of surprise when it's over.
@joelaposata3851 Жыл бұрын
I think of it as the steady but flagging sadness that comes as you heal from deep grief. The scar of it will stick with you forever, but you’ve healed and can move forward, aware of what you’ve lost and how you’ve recovered all the same.

I keep coming to this song. I don't exactly know what it is, but I keep coming back, and I'll try to explain it. This song is both melancholic and supremely happy, and I don't know how it struck that cord. It has the feel of someone who just came from the worst valley in their life, still miserable, but able to see the light of day after a long, dark night. It's the feeling after a grand adventure, when you're settling back into normal, but the peaks and valleys of your journey still echoe in the back of your mind like the old ghosts of a story told long ago. It's the feeling of listening to a song written in 7/8, basically

I'm fairly sure I have a form of seasonal depression; it's really hard for me during the colder months. This song, in both its warmth of sound and meanings of its lyrics is the same feeling when I get out of that 4-month funk. It's so... clear. Like if the sky itself was replaced with an oil painting of the sunrise, feeling the ambient warmth of a summer but with the coolness coming off of the lake.

I know this comment is a year old but I just wanted to say I know exactly how you feel. It's so good when spring hits, but it's not worth the struggle of winter. Anyway, I came here to say that it's worth trying some remedies out, they're cheap and help me enormously, winters went from a time where I could barely feed myself and keep clean to a time where I feel a bit less happy than other seasons. I settled on a SAD lamp (around £20 for the cheapest) and some vitamin D supplements (couple quid for a bottle of 60), but see what works for you! It is well worth trying them out to make half your year easier
