At 38:40 I liked the way he describes one way to reconcile science and spirituality. I like constructive and proactive ways of recognizing each others strenghts and weaknesses, and building from that foundation. Dr. Greene is in another league way above great guys like Hitchens, Sam Harris, and Hawkins. I like them all, however, I consider there would be better accomplishments via constructive discussions rather than from bashing each other. In the end, we are just humans and the answers can be found when our conciuosness works in an integrated manner. By the way, I consider myself agnostic. I love science, being a geologist myself, but also have come across nice food for thought from Eastern spirituality and doctrines. Cheers and thanks for the upload!

How do we get people, old and young, interested in science? I can give this answer in two words, STAR TREK! And not just Star Trek but programs that stimulate the imagination, like a lot of science fiction does. And I mean real science, not like what's in stories like the Harry Potter books. Although I am not a scientist, it was because of science fiction and authors like Verne and Wells, that I switched from being a religious person into a curious one, wondering why something works, and if the answer is not known it is not because of some all knowing 'spirit'...Live Long and Prosper Everyone!!!

Just how vile an idea is it that a man who has been dead for 2000 years will return to resurrect our corpses, only to judge them and then to throw most of our resurrected and judged corpses into a lake of fire for eternal torture? As fascinating as this field of study is - I am increasingly, not well nourished, by it. We may find meaning therein but it is meditation - that allows one to probe the inner meaning of everything. Vivekananda - said that it is grander to study inner nature than outer nature. It seems that this field of knowledge - streams out from the individual to the cosmos - in a largely horizontal form. Yet meditation has the ability - to fully explore human consciousness - in a vertical way. One may even probe - silently - beyond the senses - even to the root of thinking, a la, Patanjali. Where intuition and reality - reveal one's inner nature, lived.

I have a much respect for Brian Greene's knowledge and general persona, but I differ from him on spirituality. This comes from our childhood I think, Brian was raised Jewish, I was not. I think that religion inculcated in childhood, is difficult to remove, which is borne out by facts. Jesuits knew this when they said, ''Give me a child until the age of seven, and I will give you the man''. As science progresses however, I think religion will eventually disappear as it seems to be doing at the moment. Overall, it will be good for humanity when factual knowledge is our primary life concern.

Meaning can only be given in a subject-object relation. The subject can only give meaning to the object as the subject perceives the object. Modern physics tells us the objective nature of all things that the subject can perceive, including the subject's own body and brain, are forms of information animated in the flow of energy, but then who or what is the true nature of the perceiving subject? To answer this question requires a solution to the measurement problem of quantum theory. The natural solution of the quantum measurement problem is inherent in the holographic principle of quantum gravity, but nobody seems to want to pay any attention to this solution even though it is the ONLY natural solution. As I watch this discussion on entropy I'm reminded of the saying, only the good die young , the "good" are those that disrupt the least, Is it a coincidence that Elon Musk is the biggest disruption to industry and status quo and the richest person in history? A flat body of water could be seen as organized until waves appear th disrupt that calm organization. then the wind disrupts the waves causing irregular choppy waves that over time appear to be organized in a repeating pattern until they form a calm flat pattern. The quantum field can be visualized as a multidimensional web of consciousness, or energy potential, yin and yang, a web made of everything and nothing at the same time.Maybe Nothing could be more real than nothing being real.
