I had the pleasure of knowing Brian when I worked in a London auction rooms in the 1970s. A fascinating man and just the kind of erudite and educated individual sadly missing today.

Brian Sewell singlehandedly took the clipped English accent from the multitude of privately educated wealthy Tory snobs and gave it to the common man. He was a delight to listen to and to learn from.
