These super posh accents come from the reinforcement of classmates at posh schools, which he never attended. Is his accent pure affectation?

I don't think that it's purely an affectation , it seems to be part of his personality. He must of been exposed to that type of speaking from a young child as he only started school at 11 . Though I'm sure he was surrounded by such speech at a private school .

@@pauldodd9986 ‘Matter’ - no, but it’s always interesting to see English people still trying to pass themselves off as belonging to a class they in fact do not. Such things may not matter to us, but it is interestingly odd that they do to them. Peter Hitchens is someone else who would like to be taken for an Etonian, but who in fact is not even Oxbridge, having attended the University of York, a step below ‘red brick’ in status.
