Completely agree. Everyone always commented how smart he was and methodical and well prepared. I would say it more often hurt him, rather than helped him. Similarly to Larry, and as we've seen, Larry quit, because he couldn't be weaker guys.....because Larry isn't smart enough to do anything other than take steroids and lift things.

Comes down to teaching. Neil is a MUCH better teacher than Devon. Devon is obviously an incredible arm wrestler and one of the best of all time, but Neil just seemed to be a lot better at teaching the fundamentals and getting Eddie to understand what he’s doing.
@AdamLighter1Ай бұрын
Devon spent way less time with Brian compared to Eddie. Brian is way way bigger than Eddie, so ofc he will look more weird. Thirdly, Brian has armwrestled for 6 months so he has been learning bad habits, while Eddie got all the info only from Neil which is consistent. Clearly you cant say who is a better coach.

in my personal opinion brian's movement and his technique looks pretty bad for a guy who has been training for 6 months, look at larry wheels in 6 weeks. and if anyone says brian is too big for the table, look at alex kurdecha which is nearly the same weight and who is about an inch taller than shaw. (brian 6'6-6'6.5 kurdecha 6'7) if anyone also complains about how brian is actually 6'8 look at a picture between him and a 6'7 derek smith who looks clearly taller. and in some pictures even a 6'6 roberst oberst is the same height as him. he always refuses to get measured theres not a single video of someone measuring him.

Being a big devon fan, sorry to say devon is not a great teacher, he is a good teacher but not a great one, he is the aw sensei, he has more knowledge than anyone except john in this sport, but when it comes to teaching, its a diff skill, brian and eddie are both behinners, and to make them understand about the sport more, you need to start from the basics, neil is better than devon in that case, cause devon's training method is complex, there is too much knowledge and you don't know what to do, that is what happened with brian, neil did a better job with eddie
@ZcinderoneАй бұрын
Devon teaches/preaches AW philosophy, letting qualified pullers find inspiration on their own. But newbies yet to understand how and where to exert force to armwrestle on table would only get confused by his poetic and abstract description of his ideas, as they can only imagine what Devon meant. What they need is a fool-proof way to know what the correct feeling is/how to pull on table, and then dissect other detailed that governs it.

Brian will figure this out and Eddie will too, this will be a real competition. I don't believe it's going to be one sided dominance.
@ZcinderoneАй бұрын
The way I see it, Brian doesn't know how to engage his pronator while Eddie does and actively attacks opponents with it, which could be Brian's demise because among the matches he can win, he relies(seems solely) on brute forcing his opponents who are not pronator-driven pullers either, so his weakness stays unexploited. I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie wins this one easily because in a strap his move can melt Brian and basically any newbies who don't know how to engage their pronators. The only way Brian can beat Eddie probably lies in off-strap options where he snatches his hand hard and bluntly pushes sideways in that amateurish, dangerous isolated side-pressure move. He is so strong in that move due to who he is, yet probably this hinders his understanding of what real AW requires.

Eddie is far from weak. I think they are going to be much closer and anyone of them could win.

Just for clarity- actually no one has seen Eddie at Full Power yet in the Training Camp sessions released. Most of the time we haven’t worked with Eddie at anywhere near 100% & that’s for a reason - we wanted volume/ frequency/ repetition of movement dynamics. Sometimes the Training partners have gone at 100% in a certain area & we have always informed Ed when they are about to do that so he is aware but Eddie himself has never gone either Full Power or Full Pace until the start of our very last session & in unique circumstances. We have focused on simply teaching Eddie to Armwrestle rather than simply trying to focus on just the Brian Shaw Match.
