We ended up visiting Sarajevo as a last-minute change of plans - we are so happy we made this decision! We can't wait to return to Bosnia and Herzegovina someday soon to explore more of the beautiful countryside. Have you ever been to Bosnia? Any places we should visit next time we visit?

During the winter Olympics in 1984, I was serving in the army, so for one year and a half I was somehow out of touch with such events. Anyway, that was a great video, just like all your videos - thank you. You’re definitely right - reading about some things and seeing with your own eyes, are two completely different things. Just search for “alley of angels” - there you’ll read and see a lot of stuff … maybe someday you’ll get there too and lay some flowers - for me it is definitely a priority to do this and I hope I’ll be able to do it soon.

Thanks for sharing these videos. My wife and I are embarking on our retirement and full time travel in 2023 and really enjoy watching your videos. Your series on Romania and Bosnia are of particular interest because hope to travel to Northern Italy through Greece next fall and will need to spend 3 weeks outside of the Schengen countries. Did you end up putting a link to your airbnb in Sarajevo here? I cant seem to find it. Our thinking is that Sarajevo and Mostar may be better than Romania for our 3 weeks - war history, the Olympic history and food and drink. Is that your take too? I know you quite liked Romania. Again thanks for all the info you are sharing

Great video guys - We ended up 5 days in Sarajevo last summer, maybe 1/4 of the tourist. One thing we did was a half day tour to the area were they had built a tunnel under the airport to smuggle people and food in and out without getting shot by snippers, our driver/guide actually had an shard metal injury from the war and explained first hand experience of the war. Did y'all go to the Olympic museum?
@BrianandCarrie2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Robert, such an amazing story. We were only there for a couple of days so didn't have a chance to do any tours and missed the museum. We do see coming back, however. With Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria all joining the Schengen area Bosnia may be a good place to stop in for a couple months. We are sure that we will return either way. Thank you for sharing! Cheers!!🍻

So what's behind 'east meets west?' I knew that I knew that I always wanted to visit Sarajevo. I knew snippets of important history of this underrated gem. I love the Balkans in total. It's sad how this part of East Europe didn't get the luxury like West Europe to be highly developed. Just look at the wars and the political leadership in the past. Sometimes I can't fathom what I am reading. Anyway, I envisaged these cities are going to get their due recognitions in due Thanks to you guys for taking the time to showcase the world.🇬🇾

I am sorry Hussain but that religious freedom of yours was simply not existent. Bosnian Muslims are a result of forceful conversion of Orthodox Serbs in Bosnia who either wanted to avoid tax paying because being Muslim had its benefits or just wanted to save their lives. My ancestor Milovan lost his head while protecting his village from Ottoman invaders. They made his whole family watch the beheading.

@@hussainashraf5179 Look at Bosnia. It speaks for itself. If you think Islam was an indigenous religion in the Balkans, then you're sadly mistaken. Islam came with Ottoman Empire. I'm so happy we managed to stop Ottoman Empire from expanding, despite the cost of losing our people to Islam just so they can be rid of their identity and call themselves "Bosniaks", a term that was invented merely 100 years ago under colonizer Benjamin Kalay
