Every time i call my parents they start the conversation with "Did you get rid of those snakes yet? Stop spending your money on such stupid stuff" :D Now i am a manager of a pet store chain in my country and my parents dislike everything i do. Whenever i get something new or working with a cool big animal i know that i cant share this with them because they will ruin my excitement instantly, they are just being very negative and toxic to my life so i stopped sharing with them what is going on for the last 2 years

It's a really hard to do, but even with your parents, if toxic people. ..you need to learn to love them from a distance unfortunately . I now see my parents annually, took 20 years to get to that point and it's still horrible for my mental health. That's one week a year...im still obsessively replaying all the bs said from our last visit!

Stud Husky yep it’s not just toxic people you want to keep away but I mean in all friends and family don’t matter if your blood or not if you can’t be positive you can’t have faith in someone do not come in their lives they come in your lives with that you let them go until they’re ready to respect you as you respected them. Some people just have to learn the hard way and lose people or someone they don’t have faith and tend to have joy to judge and try to control you and if that’s the path they want to go then they go alone or with someone else that enjoys doing the same. Some will learn by losing you and some Will not and just agree to have distance with each other. But always should keep people no matter who they are and what they are Always keep the ones that have positive attitude has faith in you and shows that They love you and care about you! If not you not going to get anywhere surrounded by negativity period.

Kinda understand. 4 years ago I got started with BPs. My mom refused to come over. 4 years and some major illnesses. She came here for a a spur of the moment labor day gathering. She actually brought it up and wanted to see one. Well she seen all 22 and even touched one. It is hard not having support from family. But your proof that dreams do come true.
