frankenstein was the scientist, not the monster, but also, he was totally the monster
Many years ago, Brian David Gilbert and Jonah Scott talked about how most of ABBA's music could be sung by Halloween villains. This year, they turned that 3 minute conversation into a full album.

I mean, no matter the man's charm, playing "God" is dangerous and unwise. But that's too serious of a comment for a Halloween-themed cover of an old Abba song (That lowkey slaps)... which is a sentence I thought I'd never say, but here we are.

Good to have you here, i want to propose to you a new way of looking at it. Dr. Frankenstein was the creature's creator aka its dad, which, legally, would make the creature a Frankenstein. So, looking at it this way, you could argue that the monster is called Frankenstein.

The more i think about it the more i think this whole album is kind of an intentional flex of his voice acting skills, and specifically his ability to sing in different voices. Honestly this is my favourite of the album, it adds a completely different mood to the original. The vunerability of that first "gimme, gimme, gimme", the gentle desperation in the voice, it really feels much more lonely, like the desire to create/have a man is not to find a way to cheat death or a way to find love, but a way to end the loneliness. 10/10 BDG, masterpiece

@Jay Sadler Man, the wording of kid clearly wasn't meant to refer to the creature being his biological child, simply how he practically made a being (similar to what parents do) and then didn't feel like handling the situation so he ran (similar to abandoning it). The friend he made and killed is the monsters bride (which I'm not saying you missed) which the monster forced Frankenstein to create that Frankenstein then destroyed out of fear for what would happen (similar to killing it, though it wasn't technically alive yet). And in the interest of fairness I think the general understanding of Frankenstein is that what the doctor did was wrong and that the world was wrong to think his creation a monster and ostracize it. Which is reasonably summarized as the humans were at least equally monstrous as "Frankensteins monster", making Frankenstein a monster. Lastly I shall mirror your closing statement; I think you don't want to accept that your understanding might not be the common one and that you believe you having your opinion means that any opposing opinion is wrong. Go learn to be less ridiculing

This song has somehow gotten stuck in head my though, so sometimes itll give me a quick chuckle before I’ll sink back into sadness - it’s thanks to your silly tunes that these periods of grief are slowly becoming smaller while I find my grounding and so I really appreciate it.

While the whole album’s stellar, I think this might be my favorite. Excellent choice of song to monster, the build up through the first chorus is great, and the digs at Frankenstein are delightful. (‘My dear sister/wife,’ ‘I foresee no repurcussions for this!’ The Creation’s first words being ‘LOVE ME, FATHER!’ and generally being pretty reasonable to Victor’s freakout… glorious.) Definitely belongs on all Music To Be Chased Through A Castle To playlists.

@@lordmegatrondoesntdodarken5852 I think you should zag on that and declare the monster Frankenstein's creation. He knows what is good and evil and he gives in to his worst impulses killing innocents to get back at Victor. Van Helsing, as wacky a movie as it was, captured something by portraying the creature as a christ like figure determined to do good in an evil world. The strongest pathos in Mary Shelley's work is that two brilliant caring people destroyed their potential and those around them by fighting against each other.
