Grappler literally ignores DP. And if he opted to do the shoulder bash instead, he would also catch jumps with a hyper armored move. So the options the defender has is to (1) roll, which loses to throws and has an extremely large recovery window, (2) jump, which loses to shoulder bash, (3) DP, which loses to shoulder bash, counter, and can be baited with a timed meaty, and finally (4) mash, which loses to shoulder bash, counter, meaties, and throws. Also Shoulder Bash is safe. And if done meaty, is plus. He also has a vaccuum effect move has 120 frames to confirm that is +20 on block at the bare minimum. Grappler holds every single card against the defending player.

Was that armor at the end? Why would you put armor to a grappler with such high mobility? Armor is usually added to characters with very low mobility, to compensate for that. Like Zangief's 236P or Tager's 236B.

high mobility ? dudes walk speed is slowest in game. Has to use meter for armour dash and overhead slam. The only mobility he has other than that is 4S (the air grab) which is punishable on whiff or block. He and jesus boy are literally slowest in the game and you say high mobility. My mind is blown. He is very much a grappler and requires armour and counter to keep up with the cast, both of which can get interrupted by low hitting attacks.

The game is a spinoff/sequel of dungeon fighter, which was a mix of beat-em-up and mmo, and each character is actually a playable class from the original game. My best guess is that they wanted to do something similar to the old mmo and have it be like ' the ' rather than having them be named.

It's really werid tho because they all have their own story and background, yet the way subclasses is set up feels more like "alternate realities" of these characters. With this set up, you'd think they have canonical names.

I have a question about this games combo system, how in the world does it work? I played as Crusader and after using AA without meter I don’t think there was anything else I could have done to extend it into a combo. I tried gatling it into B but nothing came out. Am I missing something? What inputs is Brian doing here? I’ve tried playing other characters than Crusader but I can’t find out how to start combos. I ended up getting frustrated and going back to Strive, really sucks cause I was looking forward to this beta.

With Striker I could do 5A 5A 5B 4S 5S 6S 5MS 6MS 4MS for a neutral combo and there were no problems. I could also chain Kunoichi's buttons. Never played Crusader though so maybe he wasn't a combo character? I saw a lot of people spamming the same attack over and over again with Crusader so maybe?

Combos usually are simple like Square, square, triangle, then finding out what skill or mana skill can combo well. Crusader is harder though since he doesn't have any big combos without using multiple mana skills.

Crusader unfortunately is a character with very few combo potential however the best tool he has for extensions is his wall due to it being able to knock opponents up to mid and easy wall bounces with both of his anti-airs which are cancel able into other Mp moves. other than that with out his b.MP he has 0 gatlings or chains from normals without using MP. Without training mode it was also very difficult as he is clearly a Big Hitter type so doing anything flashy in game was a lot of losses to eat. Also without a real move list, understanding his Awakening traits and his b.Mp buff was not possible. so a huge part of his kit is still a bit of a mystery. In future, hopes for improvements on Conversion (meter gain/RC mechanic), as it doesn't really happen for a lot of characters intuitively. But if it was more common Crusader could skip his recovery and turn into a god-like mid range Juggernaut.

Too bad the universal dp loses to command grabs and could be parried, the dodge also loses to command grabs, the block cancel ALSO loses to command grabs, and the roman cancel is not useful on block.
