there are way more fishing lures catching fishermen than there are lures catching fish. 90% of fish are in 10% of the water. What Brain is saying is wayyyyyyyyyyy more important than anything anyone has said in a longggg time. I have a new level of respect for Brian now.

Just wanted to take the time to let you know how much I appreciate your authenticity/ honesty. I am newer to fishing and of course I have gone a little overboard the past few years with tackle 😂 You are one of the first and few fisherman that I have been following over these past few years. Just wanted to say thank you for all you do. Also, I am very interested in learning more about fish behavior/patterns/etc. If you are going to be putting out more of those types of videos in the future, it will not in vain 😊

Dude... I've been trying to tell people this for so long! Buying baits is easier than learning fish behavior and putting time in on the water. It appeals to the masses. And you're right, nobody wants to watch a video about fish behavior but will watch a 40 minute video by Tactical Bassin about 37 different colors and styles of crankbaits. Makes NO SENSE lol when in reality you can probably use 20 different baits to catch the same fish. You just have to know where they are. I always say fishing is 90% finding the fish. The other 10% is getting it to bite and into the boat.
@jesseboyden311911 ай бұрын
Just put a bait in your hand and go cover water. You'll figure it out.

Brian! Where was this video $3,000 ago... :) I love this message. I have to stop myself all the time from thinking I need to buy my way with more stuff into having better success. I literally started a fish journal this year just to help me keep track of what works. And more importantly, what the conditions were when it worked. So I can start figuring how to better approach each day I'm out there. So great message today. Thank you!!!
@stephenearly955011 ай бұрын
The one thing that I never hear about on any kind of video is….. It’s work! The more you study about what your going after. ie bass, deer or whatever. The more successful you’ll be! Fishing, is time on the water!!! I professionally fished for 30 years. One of the best teachers I ever had told me is time on the water the more time you put in the more successful you’ll be.
@134rwa11 ай бұрын
That's good to put emphasis on the point of buying all this gear, and it's to catch fish, we do need to learn fish behavior in order to best know when and where to use all that gear.

You're exactly right about people worried too much about the equipment and not enough about the pattern of the fish they are trying to catch. I'm coming back into fishing after a long time off and I only have a few rods and reels. I would like to understand the patterns as to better allow me to catch a bass when I'm fishing. There's no need to have 5 rods if your not catching anything, I need to understand the "why" in why I'm not catching anything.

Having the desire to fish is the biggest part of fishing in my humble opinion.
@Geoonthegrind11 ай бұрын
Please give a list of what a person should carry in the boat or bank fishing. Tackle is honestly making things no fun anymore and anxious to much to choose from. Same with rods and reels. I want to simplify. Your opinion would be great!

“Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.” Proverbs 4:5 NIV “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 NIV Think we can apply both of these to fishing knowledge and experience, and not equipment

The realest. Wisdom man. This is true of everything in life. All you need is a worm a spinnerbait and a frog and you can catch a bass. We can overcomplicate something beautiful and simple: being in tune with a body of water and its fish.

Not mentioning a jig should be a criminal offense.
@collector_effectors11 ай бұрын
@@andrewboyce7268 use a jig...or use a piece of plastic with a sinker if you like. I am just saying keep it simple. Bass fishing is about knowing where they are more so than having the magical bait and I think that's the point Brian is making that I agree with. Get you something for the top middle and bottom and go find em.
@slyfox72011 ай бұрын
120% agree with this video. I sometimes get into worrying too much on what gear I should get and forget to focus on just getting out and. fishing. The more you fish the more you can learn about fishing. I have 3 rods that I use and that is it. My tackle box is truly on geared towards the two rivers I enjoy fishing at. Great video Brian.

PLEASE do more videos talking about fish behavior. Once I started asking why would the fish be here instead of where are the fish, my catch rate skyrocketed often times being the only angler at my local reservoir with success. Good example, yesterday watched a guy throwing a buzz bait for an hour and a half over weed cover from 7pm till 830 on a bright hot day. When he finally gave up i immediately went to the spot threw a wacky Senko and landed one first cast. Cracked me up. Knew they were in the weeds. Your video on lay downs was great btw. From one Brian to another awesome video.

And how I can fish all day with little to nothing to show then all of a sudden out of nowhere get bit and boat 5-6 bass in a few minutes. But that’s also what always keeps me going back. Say sing man I can’t wait to get that lucky again. I’d love to see lots of videos on finding fish consistently. There’s so many videos with so much info it just overwhelms me. I live in Northern Kentucky on the Ohio river, and it has to be one of, if not the toughest, areas in the country to fish. The fish bass especially have no pattern. What you catch in an area one day won't be there the next. Craig's creek on the Ohio has no grass, no weed lines, rock walls are man made straight up and down no taper. I wish I could e- mail you. I have thousands of questions, but I also know you can't because you would get overloaded with everyone flooding your e- mail.
