Can get a depth finder and sonar for $100. Plus the transducer. Only use it in winter when hunting deep schooling fish. Beat banks rest of year with t rig or crankbait. The fire where i fish. Deadsticking a Damiki in dead of winter in the reservoir. Shad rap up until then in the river. Works great

@@tobewilliams1515 I’m not sure exactly what your question is but this configuration in the video is optional. I have the unit on my Jon rigged simply to my battery with no harness. It’s a good better best thing and not a necessity

@@BrianLatimerFishing Oh I see. So you don't always need different wiring? I have a 2010 basscat. And yes I get it it's an old boat but the cost of wiring in for upgraded electronics is crazy. I have started doing it myself. But as I am typing this I am not sure my exact question either. LMAO. But I do feel like on a bassboat the installation of electronics is more than the unit itself and I am always told because of the wiring

Sure, the unit is $899 or $999, so are the Garmin 106SV's. But then add in $1700 for Active Target or Live Scope. You're $4000 deep after two units, wiring/cables and taxes, maybe more if you need mounts for one or two units because you can't flush mount these things in a lot of older boats. Don't get me wrong, that's the cost of entry if you want some basic 10" units that can do Active Target or Live Scope. It's great if you only need one unit, but you need more than one unit on a bass boat. And I say "wiring" because these things need good, dedicated power wiring. They're finicky like that. I just went through this on my boat.

Hell. Your experience combined with even electronics from 10 years ago will be fine. Learn the basics of reading the bottom and learn about points,drop-off and current along with season and weather is all the weapons you need to be successful on the water. Of course understanding what the graph shows also. The Fish are not "like it's 2024 watch out for them new sonars". 😅

I fish mostly Saltwater with my Simrad NSSEVO3S 12" unit. Chartplotter/Fishfinder prices have been RIDICULOUSLY expensive for many many years now. You spend 4 grand and you STILL don't even get 1080P resolution. That's inexcusable considering even cheap cell phones for years have been 4K or better. Even these electronics aren't truly water proof, so that's no excuse. You can get a 27 inch 4K monitor IPS panel for less than a $500 bucks. I keep hoping and praying that companies like Samsung, or Apple or even Lenovo would join the fishing electronics market to destroy these price gouging companies like Lowrance, and Hummingbird and Garmin. There's no excuse for the overly high prices they are charging for these units.
@BrianLatimerFishingАй бұрын
It’s 999. It’s cheaper than your cell phone.
@Rico11bАй бұрын
@@BrianLatimerFishing My unit costs way more than that and it still doesn't have the clarity and resolution of a cell phone. Even the best units only do 1280x800. Even the 16" HDS Pro doesn't do 2K resolution as CJ said, so that's wrong. It's nowhere near 2K resolution.

The cost of the units are pretty set. Wait until the Black Frisay sales and get what you want at the best price you can get. Or try to find a deal on used. But these folks selling used stuff think their shit is made of gold, so you're not gonna get much of a discount. If you are buying 2 or more and livescope, thats on you. You decided to spend the money. Your compliants are voided. You wanna actually save money? Figure out how to rig your stuff yourself. All these crazy prices you hear of mostly are crazy because of the cost of getting your stuff rigged up. Suck it up, get some bloody knuckles and brush up on your curse words, and run your own wires. KZbin has videos that can show you how.
