I'm surprised you didnt just step up to the IX 14 but I totally get it. You killed it on this unbox and build video. As always you do it better than anyone, but you are almost the only one who's done it for this plane so far, so its even better for your channel. Keep killing it. Pilot Ryan did it on his show the other day, but he doesnt have 'The Camera Crew" to make it epic.

I thought he might be out on a short family trip. He's been working his tail off, and trying his best to keep his balls juggled. We totally get it ;) He's gonna LOVE this thing too - 100% guaranteed. This is the type of plane, when you crash, you cry...because it's just so dang good. I don't know if you remember how much I was taken by the 1.2m T-28 (another AMAZING option...and probably, to be totally honest, WAY more practical too, fyi), this was that on steroids. I've been DYING For one for at least 3-4 years. We got "promised" one about 2 years ago, but it was THIS one...and at the time I was like, just send the old one....that wasn't possible since they were gone....talk about bummed! Now, The CZ collection is complete, and I may only need to find myself one of those Carbon Z Bi Planes that they discontinued a few years ago. If you even THINK you might want this beaut, you gotta get her back ordered. T28 bit.ly/3PmbxHf

Not at all gushy Brian, your enthusiasm is contagious and representative of how many of us feel as you explore this INCREDIBLE PNP T-28, the best "kit" I have ever seen for size and quality at a fraction of the price and time of yesteryear to have. Great work Brian and Megan, as always! (and I am only at your unboxing of the cowl so far lol) 1st Edit: I have now reached you placing both of your arms in the fuselage cavity that reminded Megan of your cats. I loved the look on your face when you realized what a tasty treat that gigantic tail will make for them. 2nd Edit: Really good tip at the 53 minute mark about avoiding excessive pucker by performing a later re-torque after the foam settles down . 3rd Edit: At exactly 54:03 I am seeing significant right offset of the vertical stab by design. 4th Edit: Great assembly tip for newbies "walking the elevator" into place without damage. 5th Edit: At 1:00:28 your toenails look way better than your laminate vinyl floor seams. At 77, I rely now on outside pedicures, who does yours? lol, just asking. 6th Edit: Your full disclosure at 1:03:00 is exactly what I hoped you would do to avoid "things going bad" since it was following your own soap advise! 7th Edit: 1:26:54 - It is always the thing I put away to stay organized that I need next! 8th Edit: 1:27:15 - LMAO, you two were wise not to pursue that train of thought Ha Ha! 9th Edit: 1:29:48 - Good point made! Just like the FMS Pitts' top wing there is slope. 10th Edit: 1:30:47 - Plane eating cats inside your house, flying squirrels outside...Brian, you got problems beyond the normal. Good plug for stabilization technology. You need Alf! lol 11th Edit: 1:34:40 - The trail begins to an obvious brain freeze by Brian...If you're "happily" married is what I heard him say based on all their joint videos that I have seen. 12th Edit: 1:35:22 - The wingspan is taller than you at 6'2" that you predicted earlier would not be the case. That makes sense since 2m = 6.56'. I am ending my assembly edits here as I don't fly anymore nor have a strong grasp of the electric configurations. However, Brian and Megan. my heartfelt gratitude for your videos that invite me into your home and make me feel like a guest rather than just a subscriber. My ceiling is not big enough for more than my FMS Pitts (unless they make a 1400 Christian Eagle that you two show me how to put together). My keyboard is now off even though I am watching the rest of this video for a valuable, and free, education. I am eager to jump to the video I see in queue for your flight with a chewed up tail and squirrel avoidance maneuvers, but first I am going to watch the remaining hour of this one in silence although I'm certain that will be hard on me. You are a great inspiration for both active hobbyists and Boomer age aviation retirees. Stay on course please and always enjoy the fruits of your synergistic efforts. 13th Edit: Sorry I lied... HOLY SHIT! After watching you set up the new NX10, I realized that I am not just retired, but expired too. I can't even set up a damn smartphone. WOW Brian!

EFlite needs to step it up on their landing gear for this plane. FMS’s 1400 has better gear than this. Do better EFlite. As large and as expensive as this plane is, there is no way it shouldn’t have Olio’s. Other that that T28’s are always an awesome plane to fly. Great job as always Brian and Megan! Brian, maybe you have an opinion here. I keep hearing that the wheels on the Carbon Z are pretty hard, and can make for some rough landings. Our airfield (Thunderbird Park in Fort Worth) is an asphalt runway only. One of your 'fans' sent me the link "E-flite - EFL013562" for softer tires for the Carbon Z. But the reviews say not to get them. I was wondering 1; if you feel the same way, 2; have you looked into the Du-bro treaded soft tires? Would it be worth trying? I am NOT a great pilot, and sure my landings may be...hard on the gear. BTW, Camera Crew does a fantastic job! Gary

I am seriously considering one of these, but I find the lack of some sort of easy connector on the wings a bit of a disappointment, but easy enough to mod. Also, a big bummer that they do not use steel clevis. Those nylon clevis are a crash waiting to happen. Luckily, also an easy mod.
@BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
yes, but I agree, and agree again that they'd both be easy enough mods for those who really need it. I've always thought LONGER LEADS to the wing, when it's detachable for transport, make them easier to lay sideways NEXT to the fuse+tail without the need to even detach the leads. If it weren't for some more recent much smaller planes with quick detach wings, I wouldn't have this complaint ;)

I bought my t28 second hand. It has a 3 blade prop. Is that stock or should it be a two blade. If so, what size? The plane doesn't perform all that well with the 3 blade and it seems like it's short flights because it sucks more amps to use higher throttle than I'm used to and of course that's sucking that super juice in the batt pretty quickly.
@tomnull2637 Жыл бұрын
Hi Brian: I chatted with HH about several upgrades that didn't happen like the quick disconnect for the wings, 3 blade prop and a few other items. Their "reasoning" (such as it is) said those things were left out to keep costs down. Say what!? As it is pretty much the same as V1 except with a few minor "upgrades" like lights and gear servos(?), oh and paint. Still $649.+ for..... Disappointment is such that it's a definite no buy for me. JMO. Hope you enjoy it.
@BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
Costs get out of control real quick when shipping bloats 4-6X the price it had been pre covid...fortunately, they've come back down some, and this is one of the largest drivers of increases. Also cost of labor and materials costs in china, or wherever the plane is made. It's higher all over the world. Plus there's just delays that cost everyone a lot of money. I agree, would have liked to see these improvements too, and we did mention this, but LOOOOOOVE the plane, and so many of us never got our hands on the first one to begin with, so very glad to be flying one FINALLY. @BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
I've talked for many, many thousands of hours on KZbin, so please forgive if I've miss-stated some details from time to time, or even make a typo on occasion. -the T-28 is from E-flite (I realize that this plane is built under the E-flite branding, which is wholly owned and operated by Horizon Hobby. We use the "Mother Ship" nomenclature and tags for E-flite so it's even easier to search on Google / KZbin / WWW) -Carbon-Z, not Carbon Z (I don't even understand what you want me to fix here??? Who cares about a DASH?!?!?) -Sensor Assisted, not Sensor Aided (I stand corrected. I'll need to start saying it right.) -SAFE does not 'do' AS3X, they are separate (though related). (AS3X is the BASIS for SAFE. I've never said it any other way, that I know of. Maybe it was mistaken from what I said, but SAFE utilizes the AS3X data and functions to make decisions and take corrective action for auto-leveling, and many other features that we don't really get too in depth about, since they're less popular and important. Basically, all of what you're saying is totally splitting hairs, so I don't really understand why you would list these things. We're too busy to have people picking apart our every syllable - would you like it if I were to go to your channel and do the same? What does it gain either of us? We both love this hobby, and want to see if enjoyed by as many people as possible, so if you can't handle a mix up by an imperfect person, our channel is NOT for you.)

AS3X isn't the basis for SAFE, and SAFE does not use AS3X data. No output data is shared, and they both produce their own output, based on IMU data and user inputs. Call it what you want, but you literally said "SAFE does AS3X", which is not true. If you're trying to present information to the hobby community you have at least some responsibility to make sure it's correct. What it gains is having the right information out there. You take the time to make these videos, but having it be correct doesn't matter? You make these statements as fact, and your viewers take them as such.

Don’t worry about guys like this! Obviously you are killing it for another youtuber to pick something petty to put in your comments! Keep making these amazing long format vids! You and “Camera crew” do an amazing job!

Do you realize how good you have to be to fly like you?

I don't consider myself to be anything more than an "Average" RC pilot, but I DO TRY HARD and fly a LOT, but I will take your comment as a kind compliment ;)

@@BrianPhillipsRC it was certainly meant as a compliment! Keep up the great work you do.

also what size 3 blade prop do I use??

mine has the 3 blade and it under performs. I'm going to a 16x8 M.A. Classic prop next.

I have the t28. It is a BITCH to correctly plug in all the wires at the field. From each wing there is Aileron, Flap, Retract, and Light! There ends up having a rats nest with too short wires. I'm hoping you are going to get into a multipin setup.

All those charging lipos all packed together is just begging for a mega fire
@EDCandLace Жыл бұрын
I used to be comfortable with doing it as well until I had a box with 6x 6s 5000s Para charging and had one pack go off and as I'm trying to get everything unplugged while dealing with fire.. with in about 1 min I had a full on raging fire that was feeling my house with toxic smoke so badly I couldn't see... it was really bad and totally stopped me from changing in my house and how I store lipos. Had I not see what was happening for another minute or two by then I would have had 6x 5000mah 6s packs going off... by the them I got the box outside 2 was already fully venting and shooting fire... threw the box on the ground and within 30 seconds more all 6 was going... how fast those two packs filled the front end of my house with smoke to the point I couldn't see and the fumes Burning my eyes so badly, fighting not to not breathe that smoke in... it give me a new found respect for lipos... I have literally changed 1000s and 1000s of packs and never had an issue so I was completely totally comfortable with just charging and walking away doing my work etc etc until that day. Now I charge in a 3 foot by 1.5 foot diamond plate box that I made, the packs go in the box with the leads running in thru drilled and smooth/deburred holes. If I'm paranoid charging then I run 6x leads off the Para boards and 6x extended balance leads. That way both my 412 duos, both my 24v 80 Amp power supplies and the paraboards out all outside the locked box and the cells all inside. I can charge 12x 6s 5000s in the box with room to spare, the box isn't heavy by its self and easily portable and most important protects anything around it from direct fire should a pack go off. With the longer leads if a pack goes off I can grab that lead pop it off the Para board and take that specific pack out away from the other packs without having my hands anywhere near fire throwing packs. With all those packs piled up like that I truly hope you never have a catastrophic pack failure while your sleeping or something because if you did it would be 100% out of control before you ever even knew something was happeningm

YES!!!! The stock pilot in this plane is one of my biggest issues (Which is a GREAT issue to have on a plane, btw). I also discovered soft tires in the SPARE PARTS if you follow the link, then click on SPARE PARTS / UPGRADE PARS (can't recall which one it was in)...but they're not in stock yet ;( I will 100% be doing them, if I can get my hands on them, and we'll share the results. As for the barbie pilot - I need to get my wife to look into that. Thanks for the tip!
